On May 27th and 28th, 1977, Maryanne Amacher presented "Listening at Boundary: Scenario for a Sound Saga" at The Kitchen. Though preceding the first formal iteration of Amacher's "Mini Sound Series" by 8 years, "Listening at Boundary: Scenario for a Sound Saga" marks a significant shift in Amacher's thinking toward the expanded notions of narrative that will accompany most of her later work. Amacher's 1977 introduction to the evenings is documented on a cassette tape made and signed by Rhys Chatham, then musical director of The Kitchen.
