On the milestone of our 5th release, we gave ourselves at Ritter Butzke Studio a very special gift - A release by no other than Schlepp Geist. He is presenting us his "Back to the Basics EP”: Please dive in with us too, and feel the unique theme in every single track of this piece. All along the EP, the honest "hand-made" House music surrounds you, riddled with vocals by Schlepp Geist himself. No bells and whistles here. The cherry on top is a great remix by "Mr.Vibe" Patryk Molinari!

The opening title track "Back to the Basics" sets the direction instantly. Massive analog drumming, deep lead basses, pitched synthesized melody, sprinkled with catchy vocals - This piece is a synthesis of the arts! Right after this kick you will find the A2 "Purple Horizon": A Deep, spherical track with the intense DNA as its big brother – a definite must have for the upcoming Festivals & Open-Air season!

Welcome to the B-Side. Which we find as giving the proper contrast to this release. Starting with “Urban Camouflage" original mix, which shows the laid-back angle of Schlepp Geist. This is an impressive marvelous, atmospheric track, with dreamy pads and soothing warm vocals, which is exactly the element that is built upon the remix of Patryk Molinari, which presents it in an uplifting approach that respects the vitality of the original nevertheless.

The moment you will listen to the tracks yourself, you will feel the confidence of this release. We think of it as a unique musical cinema!

BIOGRAPHY
DJ & producer Dave DK has been making waves in the electronic music scene for a couple of years now. Since the early 90's he was fascinated by the upcoming techno movement, which eventually led to his own active initiation. 1995 was the starting point for the then 17 year old. Together with a longtime friend, Dave produced his first tracks and was involved in the organization of underground techno and house partys, constantly trying to spread and push new electronic music.
Searching for new electronic sounds every day and having honed his skills as a producer in his chosen home Berlin, Dave released his first record on Müller Records in 1998. His DJ activities had been highly pushed since that time. In 1999 he became a resident DJ at Tresor/Globus club in Berlin, later on also at the legendary Panorama Bar. Beside his remix productions for Beroshima and Skiebäck he released records on raum...musik., Decore, Lifetime Music and Cadeaux.
As Dave is an open minded person who resents musical limits, he doesn’t want to be reduced to one style. His sound simply is the result of different styles that have influenced him throughout the years. "I have a passion for the wide range between house and techno as well as pop music and dancefloor stuff of the early 90's", says Dave.
Though he’s elegantly juggling a variety of electronic music to create his own style, in his tracks he often combines tragic melodies with kickin’ grooves that transform your body into a twisting stampede of electricity, with trademark swing and warm funk.
The year 2000 can be marked as the first highlight in his career: his debut album "sensory overload“ had been released on Müller Records and there were musical excursions on Cologne’s Television label as well as on the Barcelona based Regular label. Dave is now currently recording for Moodmusic and also on Playhouse (a collaboration with Holger „Smash TV“ Zilske) which brings him even closer to his idea of electronic house tunes.
In November 2007 Dave released his second album „Lights and Colours“ on Moodmusic.
For Dave DK, music is a model of living in which he’s able to enhance his skills in order to realise his vision of modern electronic club and home entertainment – expect more fantastic music in the very near future. Late 2010 saw the release of Dave’s first Mix CD on Moodmusic called RETAKE ONE.
In 2013 Dave has been signed to Kompakt, releasing his first 12“ on the Cologne based imprint in July.

Extrawelt - Mit Liese Auf Der Wiese - Max Cooper Remix (Traum)

This piece of music is called Goldene Acht or Pale Clouded Yellow, a bright yellow butterfly with a figure-eight shaped pattern on its lower outer wings. As a migratory butterfly, an individual animal travels often several hundreds of kilometers. Over the year, the species produces three or even four generations. The last generation overwinters as a caterpillar. With this track I wanted to tell you about this never-ending journey from south to north and back again in several generation steps. Therefore new theme-generations appear in the track constantly, while having all the same migratory direction. At the same time it was also my endeavour to picture the elfin nature of this marvellous creature in a musical way. Every year I can observe it in my garden and enjoy its elegant flight from blossom to blossom for hours with childish astonishment.

Dieses Musikstück heißt Goldene Acht, ein leuchtend gelber Schmetterling der ein Muster in Form einer Acht auf den unteren Außenflügeln trägt. Als Wanderfalter legt ein Individuum oft mehrere hundert Kilometer zurück. Über das Jahr bringt die Art drei oder sogar vier Generationen hervor, bei denen die letzte Generation als Raupe überwintert. Diese permanente Wanderschaft von Süden nach Norden und wieder zurück in mehreren Generations-Etappen, möchte ich in diesem Track erzählen. Daher tauchen immer wieder neue Abschnitte von Klangmotiven auf, die aber alle stets die selbe Zugrichtung haben. Gleichzeitig war es aber auch mein Bestreben das elfenhafte Wesen dieses wunderschönen Geschöpfes musikalisch zu skizzieren. Jedes Jahr kann ich den Falter ausgiebig auf der Wiese vor meinem Haus beobachten und könnte seinem eleganten Flug von Blüte zu Blüte stundenlang mit kindlicher Begeisterung zuschauen.

The fifth track is called Fünffleck-Widderchen or New Forest Burnet, a diurnal moth with five red spots per forewing. This so cute looking butterfly is highly toxic because it can release hydrogen cyanide. Because of that it is inedible for predators and signals this unmistakably by its metallic-blue colour and the widely visible blood-red spots. I wanted to interpret this toxicity by a hypnotic trip which may encourage you to transcendental thoughts. For that I created polyrhythmic sequences which are sometimes playing triplets, but their transpositions are still in the classic 4/4 scheme. In interaction with its broken beats and the wide Oberheim theme with no clear start or end, it develops its own mental maelstrom.

Das fünfte Lied heisst Fünffleck-Widderchen, ein tagaktiver Nachtfalter mit fünf roten Flecken je Vorderflügel. Dieser so niedlich wirkende Schmetterling ist giftig, da er Cyanwasserstoff freisetzen kann. Dadurch ist er für Fressfeinde ungenießbar und signalisiert dies unmissverständlich durch seine metallisch-blaue Färbung und den weithin sichtbaren blutroten Flecken. Mein Bestreben war es, seine Toxizität durch eine hypnotische Reise zu interpretieren, welche auch zu transzendentalen Gedanken anregen darf. Im Zusammenspiel mit den gebrochenen Beats und dem breiten Oberheim-Thema, ohne klaren Anfang und Ende, entwickelt sich auf diese Weise ein ganz eigener mentaler Sog.
