An excerpt from the children's book series, "Where Is Daddy? STAY PUT SERIES!" written By Dominique Forbes

THE WORDS:

TITLE: "WHERE IS DADDY ON CHRISTMAS DAY?"
AUTHOR/WRITER: MRS DOMINIQUE FORBES


“Where is Daddy? so we can open the gifts.”
asked my children the morning of Christmas Day.

“Daddy stepped out,” I said.
They asked again. 
That bothered me.

“He needs to hurry home.
The unwrapping awaits!” they persisted.
“Daddy has provided for you all year.
He has made sure that during Covid-19 all of your needs were met.

“Have any of you done something special for him?
Did any of you stop to think of what you can do for him?
Daddy is worth more than his pockets.
Daddy is loving.

“Daddy is caring.
Daddy is responsible.
Daddy is not to be treated as though he is a bank!

“My High School English Teacher died yesterday.
His child cannot say, “Merry Christmas Daddy!” and have him hear.

“His child cannot smile at him and see his Daddy smile back at him.
His child cannot look him in the eyes and have his Daddy look back at him.”
Just then, we heard a still soft voice calling, “Marlon” from outside.
“Sidney, is that you?” my voice cried out.

“Yes, my dear.” was his reply.
“Daddy’s here!!” Grace shouted with excitement!
They all remained seated as I continued my speech.
Daddy left the windowsill.

“His child cannot hug him and have his Daddy return a hug.
His child cannot call his name and hear the sound of his voice.
His Daddy is gone.
Your Daddy is still here.

“I will not raise any selfish kids!”

“Dominique! You said you are sending someone to open the door?” 
Sir Sidney returned to the windowsill to inquire of me.
I thought he needed to see Marlon.
I did not realise that he needed to be let in.

“Yes, babe.” I said to him.
“Marlon, let Daddy in.” I turned to the oldest of the bunch and said.
Marlon scurried off only to return to our bedside.
He knew that Mamma was NOT done speaking!

Daddy walked into the house.
He went into a separate bedroom.
He knew when I was in a serious mode!

I was determined to finish my message.

“Daddy has provided for you all year.
He has made sure that during Covid-19 ALL of your needs were met.
Let’s show Daddy how much he means to us.
Let’s go out there and do something special for him!”

The kids left.

“Good morning, again.” Daddy turned and said to me.
“Good morning, Mr. Forbes.” was my response to him.
We then sealed that moment with a kiss.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
