After hosting Ghost Dance and his darkest side, I'm now pleased to receive Dom Kane and his most melancholic side to date. Dom is an incredible artist I discovered with his mau5trap releases and I followed his Ambiant switch without any hesitation given his talent. So, here is his set, with some exclusives, out soon on his label : 5302 Recordings. 

To the question, "why did you choose those specific tracks and what does that set means to you ?", my guest answers :

"So I chose each of these tracks because I think they best represent where I am musically right now in my life with 5302 Recordings. I've spent a lot of my time in Ibiza for both business and pleasure, and I always used to love sitting outside Cafe Del Mar or Cafe Mambo watching the sun set, listening to some amazing music while drinking some sangria and meeting friends from all around.  This is my selection for that moment in 2021."

On this exact date, 25 years ago, I received a demo in the post from a completely unknown DJ that Dan Prince, then editor of Mixmag, had told to send it to me... I know it was this date, as it was a Saturday morning before Renaissance that night. I had listened to this demo 5/6 times during the day - and again on the way to the club that night. I knew I’d found something special the moment I heard the mix between the first 2 tracks on the B side of that tape!

After Renaissance that night, as often happened, Sasha came back to my house the next morning... I told him I'd found a DJ who I thought was amazing, and went on to play him the tape. He too was blown away! The only writing on the tape was 'DJ JD’ and a phone number, so I called John after the weekend and told him I loved the tape and wanted him to play at the club, but I told him I wouldn't put 'DJ JD' on the flyers as it sounded like a rave DJ and instead wanted to bill him as John Digweed. I booked his first date on Saturday 5th September 1992 - and spent 4 weeks before his debut gig telling everyone I'd discovered this amazing DJ - and, of course, he didn't disappoint!! The whole club was blown away by the talent on show on his first night, and I then started to regularly pair him with Sasha at Renaissance, ahead of that iconic mix compilation, 2 yrs later, that took the S&D partnership global... so here's the mixtape that started it all, a piece of clubbing history and a significant footnote in Renaissance’s history and in the career of one of the world’s finest DJs!🔊🔊🔊

As a sound designer, the name Dom Kane has appeared in factory presets for synthesisers including FXpansion (D-CAM & Geist), Xfer (Nerve/Serum), Ohm Force (Ohmicide), Cakewalk (Rapture Pro), and the legendary hardware synth company Moog (Animoog, Little Phatty, Slim Phatty, Sub 37 Tribute). Since Dom Kane was featured with an Artist Series sample pack on Loopmasters back in 2008, his sound banks and samples have appeared in studios worldwide via his own label Quantum Loops too.

The past few years alone saw Dom Kane ascending fast amongst the ranks of House music producers: his singles and remixes topping the online Top 40 (Signal Rejected, Space, Blagger); as well as having a full artist feature and front cover DVD in Future Music Magazine, and Computer Music Magazine. Ministry Of Sound TV have released several worldwide exclusive previews of his work across their networks, gaining over 20,000 plays in in the space of hours on the MOS YouTube channel, and his music was featured in the League Of Legends global gaming competition with millions of plays to just his tracks alone.
