Raised in Northeast Portland, mostly on the streets, Juma Blaq moved around. Being homeless for portions of his life and having his father pass away at a young age made life hard for his family. He promised himself that he would not let his misfortunes affect his attitude or who he was as a person. He always strives to succeed.

Although he loves to play basketball, his passion has always been music. Blaq believes that performing and even just listening to music can change a person’s mood, touch their soul, and leave an everlasting memory. He has always wanted to have his music touch people in that way. That’s why he classifies his music as inspirational hip-hop. He has maintained himself as a positive role model that kids can look up to.
