Ann Margret was a film and music star of the 60s, 70s and 80s, dubbed the 'female Elvis'. She had a short-lived and relatively unsuccessful stab at Disco from 79-81, most famously recording the minor hit Love Rush in 79. I picked this up a few years back and always had a soft spot for it... hope I did it justice

Yvonne Gage is still working as a backing singer extraordinaire, having worked with a list of household names as long as your arm in her 30 year career. She had a few short stints as a solo artist, but never enjoyed the kind of success some of her peers earned.
I was given this record 12 years ago by a football coach clearing out his attic - turns out it's fairly sought after, not to mention a wicked groove.

Soviet-era USSR didn't exactly enjoy the high-octane hedonism of 1980s USA. While calisthenics, Cindy Crawford and no shortage of cocaine swept the West, the Eastern Bloc remained pallid and monochrome.
Limpodisco clearly feel this historical dearth of Disco needs decisive reparation, and while their pronounced appetite for fun means they'll never Crimea river, they've set to the task at hand with giddy gusto. 
Their inaugural EP on Particle Zoo channels the dizzy, decadent Disco of their recent efforts for Midnight Riot, Golden Soul and Spa In Disco across 4 high-kicking, hot-stepping hunks of funk so resplendently 80s you can smell the spandex.

Making his debut on Particle Zoo, rising star Picklejam (Hot Digits, BBC Introducing) fires off a salvo of synthwave-style Nu-Disco nuggets. Dripping in authentic 80s sounds, and with one foot in a genre often bordering on pastiche, Moonlight Impulse is assured, full of character and packs enough Disco to delight fans of either genre.
Indeed, San Junipero's distinct nods to all things 1980s aptly reflect its inspiration; Charlie Brooker's brilliant Black Mirror episode of the same name. And, like the screenplay itself, each track blends fantasy, nostalgia and playful sampling with depth, drama and a little glimpse of grit under the surface to keep us all invested.

REVIEW
A warm welcome back to paradise Discs main man Picklejam, who returns with what appears to be his first solo EP for almost 18 months. The Leeds producer is on fine form throughout, with the three original productions all hitting the spot. Choose between the Bobby Orlando-goes-nu-disco synth shimmer of 'Moonlight Impulse', the Jan Hammer-does-Italo-disco bubbliness of 'Virtual Joyride', and the NYC freestyle/proto-house fusion of 'Tucker's Disco'. The accompanying remix package is reliably solid, too, with Keith Fortune's sparkling, synth-heavy take on 'Moonlight Impulse' being our pick of the bunch (though Stephen Richards' chunky, funk-fuelled revision of 'Virtual Joyride' is also ace).
