First time playing on a VOID sound system and it did not disappoint!  Pretty intimidating playing for some incredible DJ friends but I wound up having a great time.  Can't wait for next year!

This 25th label release offers four wonderful and carefully-chosen selections of melodic electronic grooves, ranging from breakbeats to progressive house to melodic techno to house, produced by a handful of the Windy City’s finest.  Music has continued to prove to be the fabric keeping us united in the face of uncertainty, and we’re both happy and proud to showcase some truly top tier work from some of our chosen family here in our home city.  To all of you the world over, from us in Chicago – with love. 
 
First up - label newcomer and established Chicago artist Mattheo brings you “The City Speaks” – a deep and driving melodic progressive breakbeat composition that fuses lush and layered synthwork with a swaggered percussive construction.  This song’s ornate and delicate melodics are juxtaposed quite nicely against a rumbling low end groove.
 
Second – SinnerSaints returns to this year’s offering with “Dehumanizer” – a fantastic pumping yet melodically-haunting progressive house track.  This victoriously-vibing dance tune uplifts yet keeps you suspended in a lovely state of melancholy while low-end groove drives this with a skilled balance of grit and finesse.
 
“Intentions” is a stoic melodic tech statement of a song by returning label artist Crystos. Darkness and light are used in harmony here, painting this sonic landscape with big bold strokes and taking the listener on an insightful journey inward.  Designed to make you lose yourself on the dancefloor of your choosing.
 
And rounding out this release is a delectable slice of house titled “Right Here” by Matt Play – a newcomer to the label but a seasoned-veteran to both the music tech industry and the music scene in Chicago and beyond.  This melodically-rich piece of sun-soaked house music will warm the soul while the skillful vocal chops tantalize the ear – all while you instinctively reach for your favorite pair of sunglasses.

Offering powerful standalone club cuts and a cohesive deep-dive, the expansive VA lands on 24th October 2025.
The fourth edition of SHDW’s flagship ‘Federation Of Rytm’ VA series has been carefully curated by the DJ/ producer and head honcho over more than a year, with close attention to detail given to sequencing. It is a balance of label regulars and debutants that represents the past, present, and future, both sonically and through the generational diversity of the artists involved. There are plenty of surprises along the way while always remaining true to the Mutual Rytm ethos and reflecting the journey of the night from start to finish, whether that's in intimate, sweaty clubs or on big festival stages.

"I’ve lived with most of these tracks for over a year, testing them on the dancefloor and fine-tuning the selection. Each comes from artists I deeply admire, making this compilation a snapshot of the label’s evolution and a glimpse of what’s next. ‘Federation Of Rytm IV’ celebrates connection across generations, while capturing the sounds that inspire me most — telling a story from start to finish.” – SHDW.

Across 30 tracks in the digital collection and 24 on four sides of wax, the release explores the full breadth of the Mutual Rytm sound. Driving grooves and relentless percussion set the pace, gradually unfolding into hypnotic and atmospheric passages that invite deeper immersion. Pulsating low-end power alternates with eerie minimalism, while bursts of futuristic energy and cavernous kick drums keep the tension high. Elsewhere, dub textures and moments of introspection provide balance, creating a narrative arc that moves fluidly between intensity and release, atmosphere and tension, darkness and light.
