Denver rapper Donnie Raven makes his debut in a major way with “Rainin’,” a straight-up lyrical showcase featuring a guest verse from wordplay assassin Elzhi, with production supplied by your favorite producer’s favorite producer…Nottz Raw!

It may be his first single ever—and it stems from his upcoming 'Livelihood' EP—but Raven sounds as put-together and confident as someone who’s been doing this for years. That could be because he cut his teeth as a freestyle champion in his high school years. Just a week after Donnie Raven released his soulful debut single, “Rainin’” featuring Elzhih, the Denver-based upstart emcee has returned with “Vibin’,” a feel-good anthem boasting stellar production from one of the best to ever do it, Nottz Raw.

 While the track as a whole sits on the upbeat side of the emotional spectrum, there are moments of reality that provide a certain heaviness to the affair. Bars like “We all copin’ with life on life’s terms” are particularly potent and evident of the message on here.

These sentiments stem from Raven’s struggles with substance abuse, though he was able to turn tragedy into triumph by reaching and maintaining sobriety.
