One of the funkiest dudes to bless the decks! Brooklyn implant by way of Baltimore, a NYC favorited underground party spot, *Taaffe ‘Space is the Place’ curator, Donny became a national staple throughout the 90’s & early 2000’s, and has been playing parties up and down the east coast & nationally for decades.
Donny has been affiliated with B’more’s first techno/electronic record label, Defective Records (www.defectiverecords.com) since ’94, along with being co-founder/resident DJ of DeepSugar Parties (www.sugarparty.org) with Ultra Nate' at the legendary Club Paradox (www.thedox.com) in Baltimore, MD.
Donny has always had his ear to the underground and has been influential in keeping the underground vibes alive in Brooklyn.  His musical range runs very deep and is a sure crowd pleaser.

This mix was the last gig I had at the Paradox before it finally closed its doors for good... Not knowing, at the time, that it would also be my last gig with my dear friend Lisa Moody as well.  May her soul rest in power!  As people know, sometimes I play recorded voicemail messages, that I receive from friends, overtop of the mix while playing.  This night I was mixing in  voicemails that I had saved from Lisa Moody calling me & Jameson Braye talking about meeting Lisa while at the Paradox.  I was trying to mess with Moody's head that night, since we always joked around with one another, though I doubt she even realized it at that time.  Now re-listening to this mix and the track selection, along with the voicemails, I realize that night something very powerful         
and spiritual was happening on a much higher plane, as if I was playing to Lisa Moody like she would not be with us sometime in the near future. This mix now has become full circle and this is why I am uploading it now as a tribute to our dear friend Lisa Moody.  May her spirit live on forever.  RIP Lisa

     A Baltimore/Brooklyn underground legend, Donny spent years in the trenches of B’more & DC, cementing his reputation for dug-out, genre-free cuts with an encyclopedic knowledge of dance music and show-stealing side room appearances at renown house-leaning institutions.
     DatKat (Kat Smith), half of Analog Soul and a seasoned DJ long before their international success, Kat’s sound is diverse like the duo’s, who routinely split the difference between their own styles, diving into house, techno, dub, disco, drum & bass and the kitchen sink in differing proportions depending on setting.

This full length 4 track LP (1 Original and 3 Remakes) is Defective Record's 32nd release and the 2nd in its “Defective Experiments” side project. Deeply underground, presumed dead, during the dormant years the label’s roots crept into uncharted ground with “Fungus of Terror”, and the 1st shared release “Cambodian Psych-Out”. Going beyond their 90’s electronic mutations into electro/acoustic realms, this release of original material, its first from the 21st century, is an exploration in alien soundscapes of psychotropic tempos, murky hypnotic beats, distorted guitars, space funk and cinematic atmospheres.

After 6 years of gathering remixes from definitive artists in their genre, Defective Records (the first electronic music label in Baltimore, est. 1994) succeeds in producing a platter that brilliantly reflects their ever expanding tastes. The remixes explore new worlds of weirdness from Tipsy's (Asphodel, Ipecac) lush exotic electronika voyage thru the fungus, Solar X's (Worm Interface, Hymen, Art-Tek, Defective) mushroom cloud of hyper ballistic brain melting beats to Snakeoiler's (Billawtm and Cotton Casino, Acid Mothers Temple) soaring, spore filled, spacerock supermix.

Put all this on green wax and slip it in a tripped out sleeve with original cover art by Bobby BeauSoleil (Lucifer Rising) and you have a truly unique piece of vinyl designed to enhance your perception and delight your senses.

"Fever" ran at the Paradox nightclub on Russell Street in Baltimore, MD. from December 1992 to May 2001 and became one of the longest-running events of its kind in the United States. Unlike most bars and clubs that cater to a specific crowd, "Fever" attracted the most un-homogeneous group around. It was a place where gay and straight, drag queens and beauty queens, frat boys and home boys came together on the dance floor. It was such a weird mix of people! "Fever" attracted, literally, thousands of people; many would drive hours to get there and then stand in line under a highway overpass for more hours to get into the club. But Fever was more than a rave or a place to dance. It was a phenomenon.

Brooklyn implant by way of Baltimore, a NYC favorited underground party spot, 'Space is the Place’ BKNY curator, Donny became a national staple throughout the 90’s & early 2000’s, and has been playing parties up and down the east coast & nationally for decades.
     Donny has been affiliated with B’more’s first techno/electronic record label, Defective Records (www.defectiverecords.com) since ’94, along with being co-founder/resident DJ of DeepSugar Parties (www.sugarparty.org) with Ultra Nate' at the legendary Club Paradox (www.thedox.com) in Baltimore, MD.
     Donny has always had his ear to the underground and has been influential in keeping the underground vibes alive in Brooklyn.  His musical range runs very deep and is a sure crowd pleaser.
