Andy: "nearly 20 years ago (when all this was fields) a few old heads were coalescing in the nascent discogs forums and where i first got to 'know' Alastair [AEK]. they were exciting times and the dub techno threads helped to broaden my musical horizons beyond its berlin focus. Alastair was generous enough to share a good chunk of his knowledge, introducing me to less obvious labels and artists from scandinavia and japan. back to now and the scene is still thriving (at least artistically) and many of those emerging artists have since become 'real' people and important friends that i've since shared projects with on my adventures. i'm proud of, and impressed by Al's notable impact with lempuyang, his impeccable taste and sustaining the vinyl community.. even in these challenging times. my sincere thanks for then and now x

Hope you all get some pleasure from this set which is nearly all from records, naturally i wanted to bring together some of those labels, proponents of the sounds we love and friends that are important to me as a collector and DT head on a meandering 2 hours.

In celebration of Datcha's ten year anniversary, this set from resident curator Thomas Von Party brings together a host of influences that will be familiar to Montrealers, from his acid house and techno roots as Turbo Recordings A&R, to his taste for the psychedelic other exemplified with his label Multi Culti, the emphasis is on fun, freedom, freakiness. There's also a big nod to Mr. Quinn aka @oldwalkingman of Paranoid London and Decius fame, the artist who TVP credits as being his go-to producer and most played artist of the past decade of Datcha. Donny is one of the funkiest dudes to bless the decks! Brooklyn implant by way of Baltimore, a NYC favorited underground party spot, 'Space is the Place’ BKNY curator, Donny became a national staple throughout the 90’s & early 2000’s, and has been playing parties up and down the east coast & nationally for decades.
     Donny has been affiliated with B’more’s first techno/electronic record label, Defective Records (www.defectiverecords.com) since ’94, along with being co-founder/resident DJ of DeepSugar Parties (www.sugarparty.org) with Ultra Nate' at the legendary Club Paradox (www.thedox.com) in Baltimore, MD.
     Donny has always had his ear to the underground and has been influential in keeping the underground vibes alive in Brooklyn.  His musical range runs very deep and is a sure crowd pleaser.
