Love in the Air

Dontáe’s Peak is the artistic embodiment of elevation through struggle—the sound of transformation turned tangible. Born Dontaé Jareel Pelzer in Mount Vernon, NY, and raised an hour north in Poughkeepsie, the Queen City of the Hudson Valley, Dontae discovered music in the early 2000s and never looked back. 

The mix of Paramore’s melodic intensity, his mother’s 90s R&B;, and his own fascination with storytelling built the
foundation of a creator unafraid to feel deeply. As a teenager, he began experimenting with songwriting alongside his best friend and long-time collaborator, Calvin “Cal” McCants—a partnership that taught him how emotion and logic can coexist inside a verse. That chemistry sparked the artist’s earliest recordings and defined his conceptual approach to music. 

Over the years, he has performed at The Apollo, McDonald’s Gospel Fest, Blackthorn 51, and Amityville Music Hall, while collaborating with producers such as Bizness Boi, Wondagurl, Adé, Rockie Fresh, and Dizzy Banko. Under his former moniker Jay Jefe, Dontae crafted BLKLITE, a deeply introspective 10-track project produced by David Sisko and DanielOnTheTrack. The album functioned as a mirror—examining the duality of the mind, the friction between self-imposed limits and reality, and the emotional residue of growing up. It was a raw, cinematic exploration of mental health, trauma, and the search for balance. “Life experiences, good or bad, always make good music,” he reflected at the time—a sentiment that continues to guide his creative choices. 

Now reborn as Dontáe’s Peak, he stands at the summit of his artistry. His new identity captures the essence of what he once said: “We all have highs and lows, we all have our trials and tribulations. As long as I am making music and giving it my all—I am in my peak.” Sonically, Dontae’s Peak
merges Paramore’s sugary rock melodies with the clairvoyant mind of lyricists like J. Cole and Andre 3000. The result is a mood-shifting experience—dark yet hopeful, grounded yet ethereal. 

With a catalog that already includes placements in Sony video games and consistent work within New York’s studio circuit, Dontáe’s focus now lies in building an organic connection with listeners through an extended rollout plan that spans into 2027. His first single, “Karma,” drops October 24, 2025, marking the official start of this new era. The record embodies everything he’s become: forward-thinking, motivational, and unafraid to dive into the shadow to find light. At its core, Dontae’s Peak’s message is simple but powerful—you can be anything you want to be in this lifetime if you apply yourself.
