Naarm/Melbourne local @safirebba's name has become a well-respected name in drum & bass, both at home & internationally. Working with the likes of Alix Perez, Zed Bias, Skeptical & DRS has firmly established him as one of the genre’s top innovators in the country. Outside of this, recently he’s launched QQQ ST. Park, a venue quickly becoming a beloved home to cutting edge dance music in Naarm’s incredibly demanding scene.

In amongst all of that, Safire brings us ‘Moonlight Boulevard’, a collaboration between himself, @gusheavy & Duos, released via @plasma-audio-melbourne.

This piano-heavy liquid jam floats along, demanding attention with hypnotic interplay of pitched and formant shifted vocals. Heavy bass wobbles are matched with glistening sound design to make a bright summer jam that simultaneously begs for finger guns.

It’s taken from fifth album Scintilla, featuring a guest appearance by Vincent Cavanagh of Anathema and acclaimed Italian singer Andrea Chimenti.

The follow-up to 2013’s Afterthoughts is described as “a wholly new musical and visual approach,” inspired by “personal upheaval and a desire for change.”

Mainman Giancarlo Erra tells Prog: “Short Story is one of the shortest and less-structured Nosound songs, both musically and lyrically – and yet one that perfectly sets the mood to ‘different’ and prepares for the album.

“The video introduces the places where the album was partly written and recorded, and illustrates the emotional extremes present, being at the same time delicate and thunderous without very much for the in-between.”

He adds: “During a decade of activity, my listening taste shifted gradually towards simpler and more direct music with a more intimate character, still retaining a certain richness and detail in sound.

“Northern folk and alt singer-songwriter music are possibly the stronger influences, but generally speaking everything that is simple, direct and minimal but with rich sound is what I like, and what I hope this album is.

“I think Scintilla marks the start of a second phase for Nosound.”

HEEL002] KROLIK – EPIPHANY 

"Epiphany" is a moment of realization, so big it signifies the dusk of Krolik's path, finally complete, long awaited. So these last remnants stand testimony of the ever flowing state of things and its never ending evolution. It's a set of heavy bass, chopped samples and cheesy melodies infused with a touch of irony that set the surroundings for a sweet ending, seeding a new beginning, as the ears become the beak. 

Edition of 200 copies on transparent red vinyl, with a silk-screen print on the PVC sleeve.
