Just mention 'Terrace' in a techno environment and soon someone else will shout "pioneer!" As Florence, Terrace (@terrace) and (half of) Acid Junkies, Brabant-based producer Stefan Robbers was at the flying centre of Dutch techno in the early 1990s.

Perks is Robbers' fifth EP for Delsin in a relatively short time. On the one hand, it contains his signature sound: melancholic melodies and complex drum patterns wrapped in outstanding production; on the other, Perks surprises on many fronts.

For starters, the overall vibe is a lot more sombre, the chosen route much more experimental. Take 'Model A', a dreamy, 12 minute-long meandering epic that nods to the kraut-infused electronica of Tangerine Dream and Cluster but at the same time proudly carries the techno DNA.

A fascinating return of a true pioneer.

Raquel Mendiguren, known as Mendi (@user-793314077), embraced DJing after a music-filled life spanning classical, world, and electronic genres, aiming to unveil her distinct sound. Specializing in techno, she has played at Madrid's venues like Cassete Club, Stardust x She Make Noise, and holds residencies at Elecktra Club and Cabra Negra.
Driven by fervent music love, Mendi's diverse influences shape her sets with dark atmospheres, powerful rhythms, dissonances, and captivating melodies. With meticulous track selection, she celebrates techno's subgenres, contributing to Madrid's avant-garde techno scene, tailored for the connoisseur's ear. The proof is in the pudding, enjoy it!

PREMIERE: Sabatoj - I.C.U. (Mike Parker Remix) [Katharsis Recordings]

Cosmic Society, the Berlin-based collective and record label, gears up to unveil a double-feature remix release of Galga's track 'Sold 1.' Having initially debuted as a single two years ago through the same label, this release not only rekindles the allure of the original track but also breathes new life into it through the remixes from Quarion and Anja Zaube.

Anja Zaube's remix, an auditory exploration of her ingenuity, unfurls like a rhythmic odyssey, gradually revealing its layers across an expansive canvas that stretches over an evocative eleven-minute voyage. The track commences with a meticulously constructed foundation, characterized by a deliberate rhythmic cadence punctuated by resonant reverb and the sharp percussive thud of 808 claps, infusing a compelling dynamism into the groove. Yet, it's the gradual evolution that truly distinguishes this rendition. The remix transforms over time, gradually transitioning from its initial rhythm into a contemplative odyssey, emboldened by a vibrating melody and elongated, crystalline pads. This journey is marked by an underlying melancholy resonance, which amplifies its emotional depth and reflective atmosphere. DJ Hockey approaches techno by intermingling layers of contrasting elements. Defining characteristics for his productions are grounded, thick, encompassing atmospheres often on the introspective side. Psychedelia is present in all of his musical expressions, crafting dynamic journeys resulting in playful and groovy sets.

With releases on labels Model Future, PPRZ and RF Records, DJ Hockey works to propel his interpretation of techno with his production work.

1. Red Giant opens the EP with gentle, dusty percussions, eerie atmospheres and cavernous low end sub. Delayed claps create swirling wind ontop of the steady pace.

2. Kuiper Belt is a tool effective at infusing a reserved moment in a 4/4 set, or making a transition from electro to 4/4 techno. Gentle melodies and hypnotic elements glide over the kicks and snares.

3. Andromeda is a scifi inspired 909 workout. Grooving toms, aggressive snares and spacey claps float around a vox sample while intensity builds from the synths until take off.

4. Starburst is a layerable tool with a strong kick and sparkly arpeggiated synthline which modulates throughout. Simple yet effective percussions provide build up and release through-out this straight forward melter.
