Through her ‘A Story of a Global Disease’ debut-EP, the French Producer offers us a tale about the artificial paradises of globalization, a melancholic stroll through the exotic relics of free trade, where appearances matter more than knowledge. Here, geishas eat fries, Europeans confuse Tokyo with Beijing, tribal ceremonies start with drum rolls and exotic travelling dreams are fulfilled on ephemeral food courts.

Treat yourself on November 3 with the last dose of sunshine for 2021, thanks to this 6-track floral EP of exotic wave, synth-pop and dub on a flashy-pink cassette, limited to 40 copies only.

VASTEDUB VOLUME II - FUTURE SMOKE - Extracts

After first appearing on MRG010, Czech artist Exhausted Modern is back on Marguerite Records with a solo EP called “Deform | Reform”.
A side opens up with the dreamy electro-ish “Giving form to chaos”, followed by the high tension ambient-techno cut “The self unselving”; A3 is a trippy oddball slow-tempo jams called “Old disguises”.
B side unwraps with “De creatura” and “Riddles of creation”, respectively on B1 and B2: the Endless Illusion boss crafted two ambient cuts characterized by haunting soundscapes, weird voices cut ups and deep basslines.
The title track ”Deform _ Reform” closes the EP in a Sabres of Paradise-esque manner with a communion of dub and industrial rhythmics and patterns.


Limited edition of 50 professionally dubbed tapes.

BIO - 
After an initial interest in Hip-Hop/Turntablism culture as a teenager, Dschen soon
became attracted by the early Atmospheric & Liquid Drum'n'Bass sound, which led to his first gigs and experiences as a club DJ. This was until around 2007. More than 15 years later the focus of his DJ sets today lies mainly on hypnotic, deep or driving Techno and organic halftime grooves, sometimes merging both styles in the same set through proper track selection and mixing techniques. Current DJ sets are regularly published in his own "Temporary Escape Podcast“ on SoundCloud and YouTube. 

In addition to his activity as a DJ, Dschen has delved deep into the world of modular synthesizers in recent years, following a long phase of experimenting with different production and composition methods. Now his tracks are created as intuitively as possible, often by recording live jams in the studio to capture a special sound aesthetic and authenticity. His debut album “One Armed Statue“ (see below) came out in early 2023 on the Mexican label,  https://soundcloud.com/secuencias_temporales, and embodies this recent artistic development. Focusing on deep, organic Downtempo Techno, halftime tracks and Ambient on the mentioned LP, his upcoming releases will also delve into faster and more driving Techno territory. Stay tuned!

Lena Platonos is a pioneer of the Greek electronic music scene. Her second solo album, ‘Gallop’, was produced in 1985, and reissued by Dark Entries in 2015. The album was made exclusively using analog synthesizers, and prominently features the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Lena narrates each song, reciting her own surreal poetry. Lena says of ‘Gallop’, “It’s a study in the mythology of urban population of the contemporary metropolis and also a gaze into the future life of it.”

We’ve recruited Tel-Aviv's Red Axes to remix four of their favorite tracks from ‘Gallop’. The duo, DJs and producers Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, were raised on a diet of post-punk, new-wave, and Italo-disco at fogged out warehouse and basement parties. Their own productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as I’m a Cliché, Correspondant, and Hivern Discs. Through their alchemy, “Witches” and “And We Hear "I Love You” have been transformed into solid dancefloor tools, while “No. 9” and “Liqueur Ruby” are submerged in psychedelic mist. The latter features middle eastern rhythms by fellow Tel Aviv musicians The Dirty Lizards.

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is a reinterpretation of the original 'Gallop' cover, isolating the photograph of Lena layered on a grid backdrop designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy includes a two-sided postcard with a manipulated frame from one of Lena’s music videos. “In an era where we are obsessed with nostalgia, Red Axes achieved something against that grain while still paying homage to the underrated greats that came before them.” - Anthem Magazine
