Another song I  wrote in 1974,we recorded about 8 originals that session, this is one. My old friend Peter Chapin is the vocalist. Recorded on our old Teac 4 track. It's a rough recording but you get the idea ,it was a demo.

These tracks were recorded a few years ago when Grateful We're Not Dead first bought a BOSS BR900-CD Digital Recording System. This was my first attempt at recording individual tracks. I laid the bass track down with my Fender Mustang using bass synthesis on the recorder. This mix is done in Cubase Elements 6.

The Reefer Song

My friends all like to do reefer
They think it’s lots of fun.
They laugh and joke with every toke.

But when they pass a joint to me,
I have to wave it away. 
I feel bad because I'm kinda harshin’ their buzz,

Now I know it’s getting legal
In a growing number of states.
Across the nation there’s a population 
Who think it’s really great.

But when it comes to can-na-bis
I have to say, “I can-not.”
'Cause when I do weed I’m guaranteed
To get dimmer than a 15-watt.

Ain’t like like I never smoked it.
I had my share back when.
But then one day I got carried away.
Smoked a whole dime bag with a friend.

When I went home I was in my room
And things started getting weird.
My Neil Young poster started talking to me.
And I got really scared.

I went outside, walked down the street.
And everyone was staring at me.
Cars hit the brakes for to see me baked.
So I hid behind a tree. 

Then a psychedelic squirrel came up to me.
And he looked me in the eye. 
He shook his little head, and then he said,
"Dude, you are really high."

So I ran back to my house again.
And I didn’t know what to do,
I went to the kitchen 'cause my belly was itchin’
For some junky no-good food.

I decided to cook three hot dogs
And I smothered them with Nutella.
My Mom, she caught me in the act.
She said, “What’s going on there, fella.”

The kitchen was a mess, my Mom was mad.
So I just went to sleep.
That’s the last time I smoked pot my friends.
'Cause of what it does to me.

A track we recorded back in 1975 for Capitol L.A., a cover of a Bee Gee hit. Recorded at Le Studio ,Morin Heights, produced by Spencer Proffer.It made it onto Capitol's 1977 anniversary album. Only a radio copy was ever produced.

An original recorded back in 1974 on an old Teac 4 track, lots of over dubbing, Peter and I played all instruments except drums and bass, one of 8 songs we wrote and recorded that session, a lot of fun.
