Carollė Süss is an interdisciplinary artist, tatoo artist, a DJ and a student of the New Media Department of the Warsaw Fine Arts. She was born in Katowice but has been living, working and creating in Warsaw. Her adventure with DJing started during the first lockdown under the eye of her friend, Tirruth Bone AKA rosa forever. Since then she played countless DJ sets, beginning with streams, through gigs in Warsaw, Cracow and Poznań to the set at Wixapol or the Warsaw Pride afterparty. In September 2020 her mix for Wixapolonia was highlighted by Electronic Beats as one of the 7 best mixes of the month.

'It's the first mix I've recorded for a couple of months, so working on it was particularly demanding. I'm just starting my second year of studies, which will undoubtedly impact my place in the future.  I feel as if this mix is a ritual of passage for me, so I'm starting it with music from the game Portal. The first voice that can be heard in the mix is Thom Yorke's, who was a formative artist in my life, even though I'd forgotten about him for a while. You can also hear Dai Burger rapping Everything Suxx, which surprisingly I agree with, being thrown into an adult freelancer artist life in Poland. I'm finishing with the music from the movie Crash directed by David Cronenberg, as a summary of the destructive activity that recording this mix was, even though I also found pleasant cleansing in the process.'

A couple months ago I started a project to turn my normal journaling process into a channel flipping experience! All the scratch work and raw ideas packaged together. I noticed I loved listening to all my nascent and unfinished ideas playing through my composition journals, so I decided all the new ones I would start making into a listening experience!

Amsterdam-based duo Know V.A. is one of the voices in the current renaissance of Dutch early hardcore. 

Driven by the search for the new, the two producers strip down the hard dance music they know until only the core principles remain. With the sheen of brute violence removed, a softer and more intricate existence appears. Their music is synthetic. For the duo, this unnatural sound aligns with people’s obsession to control and manufacture the world around them. 

The new record ‘Strange Days’ on Signal Life tells a story about a disintegrating world in which its inhabitants are paralyzed by the weight of impending doom. Whether it’s global warming, a potential nuclear war or a crumbling society. 

“With this record we tried to grasp some of this zeitgeist, as well as picture a possible future. While there’s hope; the end is in sight. How does contemporary music sound like amidst this realization? It definitely brings forward a certain recklessness. It’s strange days now.” 

Over the last years, Know V.A. have gained an international reputation. In between touring Asia and Europe, they’ve hosted a series of 'Strange Days' club nights in Amsterdam, which seeks to showcase contemporary hardcore and explore how the genre, sonically and aesthetically has remained active in the underground. Their aim is to create a cross-cultural event, by making surprising combinations of source and inspiration, older and newer names, Dutch and international talent next to each other on the line-up.

Ascion is the musical project of Pasquale Ascione, an Italian from Naples based in Berlin. What makes Ascion’s music to stand out from the contemporary techno context, is its immediacy and intensity delivered in a genuine and open-hearted manner. Pasquale maintains the subtle tension in his tracks. There are constant upsurges of energy and unrest in these acidic formations calming down just to reappear with an even stronger punch. His music is sometimes build-up to the intensity of hardcore or echoes the golden age of rave as well as contemporaneous monolith tech-vibes.
Even though the majority of its output bursts with the utmost vigor of the heated-up climaxes of warehouse raves, there is also a place for the moments of icy lushness, downtempo, or profound and drifting tunes. Ascion’s various musical guises are nicely manifested in the sole full-length “Joy Dexon Club” on his Repitch Recordings, where airy and vivid techno compositions are infused with electriﬁed pulses and traces classic IDM nostalgia hinting at legendary Warp output of the ’90s. Despite these references, Pasquale’s tracks and mixes are best described neither by retro of futurist discourses, but rather a sprawling and overwhelming moment of the now, this hypnotic physicality still experienced in underground raves.
The curatorial activity as label manager, visual artist, and creative behind Repitch Recordings, Cosmo Rhythmatic, and 3TH Records showcases his vast musical taste and in a way reﬂects his sonic endeavors.
