Israeli producer Stereo Underground returns to Balance with a highly impressive bass-heavy two-track EP. Not only does he dazzle with his incredible engineering skills, but his innate ability to craft engaging dance music that makes you sit up and pay attention is on full display.

The beat on ‘Spinner’ is so dirty you will need a bath after hearing it. The bass feels untethered, a swirling mass of low end punctuated by sharp, sizzling hats. A wild synth threatens to unravel everything during the breakdown - yet everything is reigned in at the precise moment of glory. This is dance music for dark rooms.

On ‘Cyberia’ the emphasis is once again on the bass. It’s a top-heavy workout smoothed out by an uplifting melody that becomes progressively more euphoric with each tick. The layers are impressive, building a narrative that will reward those looking to get lost in the music.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White wraps up a strong spring season by welcoming Jadon Fonka to the label for his debut EP. Sri Lankan artist Anupa Fonseka aka Jadon Fonka released his first project in 2017, and over the course of the last seven years has followed a seldom travelled path. Rather than focus on one distinctive style, Jadon has released EDM, Electro House, House, Progressive House and more. A project via Hardwell's Revealed Recordings in 2019 has been a discography highlight, earning the support of EDM tastemakers such as Timmy Trumpet, Mike Williams, Lumberjack and many more. 2023 would see Jadon put a firmer focus on progressive house however, becoming one of the genre's more prolific newcomers and in turn recording projects for 3rd Avenue, BCSA, Droid9 and SLC-6 Music, amongst others. Now following a well-received debut for Balkan Connection, Jadon adds Dopamine White to his resume with 'Former Times / Perfect Crime'. Beginning with 'Former Times', Jadon continues his club-effective progressive style. Full of charged energies, the Colombo resident expertly blends punchy kick drums and electric grooves with crunchy rhythms and astral sonics. Granular effects, deconstructed vocals and hopefully melodies steal the air, furthering the first movement leading into the break. A thought-provoking vocal sample takes centrestage here, bringing with it moments of anticipation and intrigue, before swirling atmospheres melt down amidst a bed of clustered drums and rumbling sonics, perfectly setting the stage for a drop of main room alchemy. The companion piece 'Perfect Crime' finds Jadon flexing a groovier side of his repertoire. Powerful beats and chunky basslines serve as the anchor for cross-cultural motifs, muted bass stabs and a strong effects narrative to intertwine for a smooth yet uplifting first act. The breakdown delivers a strong dose of controlled chaos, as orbiting effects, waves of noise and an ominous vocal sample unite, before a rush of drums and gritty textures cues an epic finale to round out the EP on a large note.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the summer season by welcoming Gibsom to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from France but now calling Canada home, Gibsom first emerged in 2020 with a deep melodic sound which found a home on Chrom Recordings and Hover Mind. Immediately touted as a newcomer to watch, Gibsom would continue to work on his craft, in turn developing a more progressive approach to production, a new found sound which quickly found a home on Modern Agenda, Polyptych and Uxoa Dutxa Elite, amongst others. Also an accomplished DJ, the Montreal resident has been a fixture of the city's nightlife in recent years, taking his impeccable taste and smooth programming skills to the many of its trendiest venues in Birra & Basta and Le Salon Rouge. With 2025 already yielding a well-received return to Polyptych's Noir division, Gibsom now adds Dopamine White to his resume with ‘Mad Hatter'.

Spread across two tracks it is the title selection which gets the EP underway. Its deep drive is anchored by strong kick drums, wispy atmospherics and percussive flashes, tastefully building to a wild-eyed intensity of astral effects and soaring synth flares. With an emotive spirit, Gibsom pulls from his expansive repertoire as the main break takes shape, infusing shimmering synths, hopeful pads and luminous tones with a gentle vortex of noise; resulting in what is sure to be a memorable dancefloor moment, as the beats drop for a resounding finale.

The companion piece ‘Purple Cheshire' follows and is an apt barometer of where Gibsom's headspace is at, as he lets punchy beats lay the foundation for flickering percussion, flashing synth mutations and sweeping effects to create a darker monochrome. Energies shift and tension rises, bringing depth and space across a dramatic break, before getting washed away in waves of noise for a thrilling conclusion that's perfectly dialled for peaktime play.

It took us quite a long time to get this project going, mostly because of me not co-operating as I should… But when I finally did, and we had an ever growing list of remixers, it became obvious that we were missing something pretty crucial – a Progressive Psytrance remix ( …yeah the one with the running bassline and Psy sounds ). You know - basically the main genre which most of the Trance events are built around. After realizing this, it was the time to take action and all of a sudden I recalled that Andreas and I have met recently on a mutual Brazil tour and I was immensely impressed by his own version of non compromising gritty ballsy Psy, while Emok had the same name on his mind on the other side of the Skype conversation… The collaboration with Yotopia came to mind immediately as an ultimate track for him to remix. Boom!
