Following a line of highly original and immaculately crafted EPs for Proton Music, Huminal's "Macropsia" saw the Dutch pair hit the headlines once again in autumn 2018. As we return to the title track, new remixes continue the story, including this beautiful reinterpretation by Argentinian artist, Matias Chilano.

"Janko Dragovic is an artist with a long and rich association with the underground dance industry. First, through his Progress Inn moniker alongside Igor Kadic, and then on his own under the Desaturate moniker, Dragovic has continued to wow audiences with spellbinding DJ sets across Europe and Australia supporting the likes of Sasha, Cattaneo and Zabiela. An ever-expanding production portfolio has seen the Desaturate name featured on a host of blue-chip imprints and a century of production credits tell their own success story on Replug, Balkan Connection and Juicebox Music. Furthermore, Particles became a regular home to Desaturate's music, exemplified by "The Unholy Mountain" in May 2016 and collaborations with Rick Pier O'Neil and Forniva throughout 2016 and 2017.

January 2018's "Wanderer" EP showcased a stunning three-track EP on Proton Music and a remix of Deeparture's "Embraer" in November 2019 is now joined by a wonderfully creative interpretation of "Macropsia". With a chunky, driving rhythm in full effect, the pulsating bassline of the original is quickly developed with a new heavily modulated and gated lead line that takes on a life of its own while retaining the central characteristics of Huminal's work. Building in intensity, syncopated synths blend with a superbly effected guitar phrase that brings the track into an exciting new direction post-breakdown.

An artist at the peak of his powers, Matias Chilano reigns supreme across his Argentinean homeland. A regular across the clubs of Buenos Aries, Cordoba and beyond South American borders, Chilano has shared the stage with a global DJ elite that incudes Nick Warren, Quivver, Khen and Jimmy Van M. Moreover, his ability to play piano and drums since the age of seven, has seen a triple century of production credits find their way onto such esteemed labels as Balkan Connection, Mistique Music and Soundteller supported by the cream of world DJs including Hernan Cattaneo and Armin Van Buuren.

A trio of remixes for Particles throughout 2018 showcased Chilano's considerable talent as he now debuts on Proton Music with an elegantly crafted remix of "Macropsia" that is full of trademark attention to detail and hypnotic and silkily evolving sound progression. Retaining the essence of Huminal's work, a host of additional production material manifests itself in gloriously textured chord and haunting new motifs that add a new depth and character exploding into life in the third movement.

Remixes from Desaturate and Matias Chilano continue to showcase "Macropsia" with vivid intensity.

DJs are a nomadic people. Drifting between venues, airports and hotel rooms, they’re always on the hunt for new music and clubbing activity. They are, indeed, the Bohemians of the 21st Century. Or as Britta Arnold, unders and Noraj Cue would call them: Happy Campers.

Joep Mencke, one of the happies campers of them all, and his soul-propelling masterpiece, Asiri, is the perfect piece of music to usher in the Spring. “Music takes me on a journey. A journey that makes me want to close my eyes and wander off to wherever the melodies take me,” Joep has been quoted as saying. And the ‘me’ that wanders when eyes are closed is the essence of ‘me’ that dreams. Some would call that the soul.

Asiri is a soul-scape that celebrates all the complexities of life from a place of joy and gratitude. With soaring melodies, complex arpeggiators and moments of reflective dimuendos, it pays homage to Joep’s journey and appreciation into music. The rapidly thriving onedotsixtwo label launches its 2020 campaign with yet another essential release, this time from the multitasking main man himself, Tripswitch, who has masterminded an incredible refreshing of his classic ‘Box Fresh’ track, having enlisted the studio skills of Emi Galván, Forerunners and Nicolas Rada, alongside him on remix duty.

“‘Box Fresh’ was a really significant track for me when it first came out on the ‘Propulsion EP’ in 2014. It was one of the first progressive tracks I wrote where I felt I’d successfully struck the right formula between my own production style, which was more rooted in epic, euphoric chillout, and an up-to-date progressive house sound.” - Tripswitch

The original track’s significance (represented by the 2020 Remaster in this new package) grew exponentially when it became one of the first Tripswitch tracks (after his remix of Seamless ‘Castle In the Sky’ on Section Records) that Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo really hammered in their sets and was thus pivotal in establishing Tripswitch on the progressive path, ultimately leading to the birth of onedotsixtwo. 

“I always felt it deserved more credit for what it had opened up for me, and a 2020 re-release on onedotsixtwo with a reimagined remix version and big remixes from some of my favourite producers is a fitting way to bring it back!” – Tripswitch

With an ethos to seek out and feature the finest world-class talent within the underground progressive house scene, Tripswitch has teamed up with rising Argentinian superstar Nicolas Rada (who is making a huge impression on the scene right now) to open proceedings. This creative dream team’s ability to tease out the essential original mind-blowing beauty of ‘Box Fresh’ with their deeply delicious 2020 ReFresh is quite astonishing. By composing a magnificently subtle, tantalizing, soaring, new melodic masterpiece, they set the stage perfectly for this truly outstanding remix package.

Another Buenos Aires resident, the exceptionally multi-talented Emi Galván, brings his own unique vision to ‘Box Fresh’. Emi has earned a reputation as a kind of crown prince of uplifting electronic music and here he injects his infectious blend of bounce and funk to proceedings to launch the track to a higher level of energetic abandonment, juxtaposing irresistible melodic hooks with euphoric percussive flourishes to create an absolutely monstrous dancefloor experience. Emi’s remix has already been cited by Nick Warren as one of the biggest tracks of his DJ sets.

Arizona USA’s Brenden LaBonte (aka Forerunners) makes a welcome return to onedotsixtwo with his outstanding remix. A sophisticated interwoven blend of skippy percussion, meandering bassline groove and lush layers of hypnotic melody, create a marvellous drifting sea of tranquil beauty. It is a wonderfully subtle journey from the masterful DJ/Producer who always creates a stir amongst discerning underground progressive house fans worldwide

To conclude this unmissable package, the original joyous iridescence of ‘Box Fresh’ has been tweaked to glorious effect for the 2020 Remaster and, if you haven’t already discovered its wondrous uplifting musicality, prepare to be mightily impressed! Holding ever true to the onedotsixtwo proper progressive philosophy, ‘Box ReFresh’ once again delivers on the label's manifesto, adding another essential release to their vital catalogue featuring some of the most forward-thinking and well-produced progressive house out there. 2020 starts here!

Tripswitch - Box Fresh (Emi Galvan Remix)

The latest from Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes Andy King to the label for his debut single. The UK artist lays claim to a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on BCSA, Proton Music and Stripped Digital. After capping off a successful 2019 with a release on Solarstone’s Pure Progressive imprint, Andy now debuts on Soundteller with ‘Hemisphere’ alongside remixes from Eric Lune and Monojoke.

Always surfing the genre barriers with an effortless ease, Andy explores his pure progressive roots on ‘Hemisphere’. Beautifully designed, it’s tough galloping beats play off shimmering arps and spacey sweeps across the first act, before eventually melting down into a tranquil break. Creating tension with each successive loop, ghostly wails drift across the framework, as muted rhythms gently rumble below. Cosmic synths then steal air at opportune moments, washing away the atmosphere into a rush of beats and percussion for a powerful finale.

Fresh off a stunning remix for Stellar Fountain, it’s Eric Lune who provides the first interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’. The Australian artist remains one of the progressive scenes fasting rising stars and his uncanny knack for crafting feel good melodies continues here. Clocking in at nearly ten minutes in length, it’s soulful strums, playful musicality and buoyant groove are joyous to say the least. Not lost in this is are dynamic moments though, particularly during the main break. Complete with striking electronics and impassioned harmonics, it serves as the ideal centrepiece for this epic journey.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’ is label artist Monojoke. Returning for his 10th appearance, the Polish artist follows his hit ‘Neon Desert’ from September of last year with a superb remix here. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Cracow resident adds layer after layer of melodic colour. It’s this trademark sound which has made him such a huge favourite amongst progressive house fans, and with a truly exhilarating break it really does round the release out on a massive note. Big time stuff from Monojoke and a beautiful release from Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Highly recommended.
