Elliot Moriarty - Night Time Feelings (Edu Schwartz Remix)

Rising out of Argentina's electronic underground and making his much anticipated Replug debut is Ivan Aliaga. Hailing from the talent-rich region of Cordoba, Ivan's musical palate takes reference from the progressive genre's vast spectrum; in turn creating an authentic voice that is discernibly his own. Noted for his attention to detail, tough kick drums and electric design quality, Ivan's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an exhilarating experience. On the strength of releases via Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden, Ivan has earned the praise of genre trendsetters Cid Inc, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and more. Now, following his latest Mango Alley vehicle ‘Blue Shade', Ivan makes his Replug debut with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Lonely World'.

The EP's title selection ‘Lonely World' sets the tone with a remarkable display of rhythm and musicality. Tight, compact and bursting with ultrasonic energies, it's a creation built around meditative melodies and temperate harmonies. There's a strong sense of cruising across the first movement, one that allows the listener to relish in Ivan's rippling grooves and orbiting effects, in turn perfectly setting up a series of poignant chord changes and processed piano's which carry energy into the main break. Ivan's craftsmanship shines across the interlude, with effervescent phrasing and fuzzed out synth swagger cleverly coaxing, eventually revealing a pixie-like lead melody which pushes onwards to a finale that is equal parts cosmic and emotive.

The companion piece ‘Speed' follows and is an apt barometer of where Ivan's headspace is at, as he lets tight kick drums lay the foundation for gritty percussion and devilish effects to create a darker monochrome. Energies shift and emotion rises as hopeful pads emerge, bringing depth and space to the pyrotechnic framework, before getting washed away in a wave of deconstructed sonics for a heady finale. It's a thrilling conclusion to a fresh two-track showcase, one where Ivan Aliaga makes an impressive Replug debut, and carefully balances rhythm and groove with technique and melody.

Andres Moris, Emmanuel Dip - Left Behind [Balkan Connection South America]

Presenting their fourth release, Ruben Karapetyan's RKP imprint welcomes Tomek to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Hungary, Tamás Bolye aka Tomek has been a fixture of the electronic underground for well over a decade. Beginning as a DJ and event organizer, Tomek would release his first production in 2009, establishing a melodic progressive sound which would lead him to project's for John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings, Balkan Connection,ICONYC NOIR, PHW Elements and Stellar Fountain, the latter of which would operate as his primary home for the next decade. Increasingly choosy with his releases in recent years, Tomek now adds RKP to his resume with his first original production of 2023 'Electric Serenade', alongside remixes from Forty Cats and Luca Abayan. As the progressive grooves and swaying rhythms of the Original Mix unfold, it's clear that Tomek's craft must be taken to heart. Renowned for his trance-inspired melodies, the Gyor resident opts for a deeper approach here, working placid pads and soulful motifs over warm grooves and flickering percussive arrangements. Building patiently across the first movement, its emotive chord changes and heartfelt harmonies marry beautifully during a transcendent break, before layers of jangly hooks and wind-swept sonics cue a gorgeous drop and glowing finale. Making her label debut with the first interpretation of 'Electric Serenade' is Forty Cats. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production breakthrough would come shortly thereafter, with a debut on Lane 8's This Never Happened, a release which would make her an in demand remixer and rising progressive house phenom. Now, four years on and Forty Cats is regarded as one of her country's premiere electronic music artists, with standout discography credits for Juicebox Music, Sound Avenue,The Soundgarden, Sudbeat Music, Mango Alley and WARPP. Always a creative remixer, Forty Cats now makes her RKP debut with a stunning rendition of 'Electric Serenade'. Focusing on a slightly darker monochrome, the Moscow resident takes greater aim at the dancefloor for what results in a heady eight-minute journey. Rebounding rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for snatches of flickering percussion and shapeshifting effects. Looking to bring a surreal yet emotive response, the main break shifts the narrative through moody pads and acid-like lines, before a fragmented didgeridoo cues a stripped back drop and meditative finale, one which an astute dancefloor will certainly appreciate. The release concludes with Luca Abayan also making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of 'Electric Serenade'. Hailing from Argentina, Luca has emerged as new talent in his country's rich pool of progressive house producers. Although just a year into his journey as producer, the Rosario resident has already amassed an impressive discography, notching releases via Arcedian, Droid9 and Magnitude Recordings. Fresh off a well received remix of 'It's Just a Dream' by Mind Tourist, Luca now debuts on RKP with a spirited take on 'Electric Serenade'. Beginning with a buoyant kick and deep chugging groove, the Argentinean artist channels the fluid energy of the original through hazy sonics and evolving textures, before the main musical theme emerges across a colourfully fuzzed out break, perfectly setting up a meditative finale that should fare well in the morning hours.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White continues a strong year by welcoming Simos Tagias to the label for a new single. Since first emerging nearly a decade ago, the Greek artist has continued to earn the praise of progressive music tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Revered imprints such as Higher States, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, meanwhile, Proton Music, Replug and Sudbeat have all served as recent landing spots for his groovy melodic sound. Dopamine Music has also been a comfortable home for the Simos, having released eight originals and two remixes since making his debut in 2013 with a contribution to the label's VA Compilation 001. Now, following his latest vehicle for Meanwhile, Simos makes his debut on Dopamine's White division with ‘Vacuum', alongside a remix from label boss Nikko.Z.

The original mix leads the release off in impressive fashion and only furthers Simos' dancefloor minded ethos. Cruising effortlessly across the first movement, there's a strong sense of flow as flashing percussion and growling effects set the course for a room-rocking bassline to deliver a magic moment. Hazy melodic clusters and emerging atmospheres continue to elevate anticipation and mood as the main break takes shape, before a tastefully poignant lead theme spearheads a euphoric finale.

The release concludes with Nikko.Z providing the lone interpretation of ‘Vacuum'. The Greek artist and Dopamine White label boss has been a fixture of the progressive house community for the better part of two decades. As one of his country's most recognized artists Nikko has taken his groovy sound to Movement Recordings, Or Two Strangers, Sound Avenue and Sudbeat Music, while also earning support from world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Although very selective with his projects of late, 2023 has seen Nikko re-emerge with a well-received single for Movement Limited. Now, presenting his first remix of the year, Nikko delivers a stunning rendition of ‘Vacuum'. Taking square aim at the dancefloor, Nikko's creative attitude reveals itself; as he adds greater atmospheric depth and steeres effortlessly into emotive territory as grooves pulse and effects orbit. A fuzzed out take on the lead melody only adds to its poignant quality as the main break takes shape, eventually giving way to glowing pads and filtered sonics, as the groove crashes down for an epic finale to cap the release off on a huge note.
