Over the past 6 years WOLF Music have earned their stripes as stalwart purveyors of refined House and Disco. Now, in the follow up to Medlar and Greymatter’s debut LPs and EPs from the likes of Ishmael, Ossie and Casino Times they ready their 3rd LP from Dutchman Frits Wentink.

Now residing in Amsterdam, Frits has a glowing back catalogue of soulful, Lo Fi club material that’s touched Heist Recordings as well as WOLF in the form of his ‘Mouse’ and ‘Goose’ EPs. With an experimental approach to hardware and instrumentation, his work blooms naturally through jams and improv and in this - his debut LP: ‘Rarely Pure, Never Simple’ we see a development in this experimentation to enlivening effect.

Working with a meld of grubby samples, chunky percussion and the frequent vocal accompaniment of Utrecht based Loes Jongerling, Rarely Pure Never Simple is a journey through Frits’ influences forged into a cohesive pack of grooves and interludes tinged with a certain charming nostalgia.

We are very exited to present you the new release on our label: Boorane – “Thru Jazz to Mars” EP!
Although it's the very first EP of the project, these guys can hardly be called newcomers.  Boorane members already have the “street” credibility and style with the strong roots and skills in b-boying and djing, dating back to early 2000s, and can easily teach us a thing or two about the art of digging, beats programming, real swing and texture.  With previous releases on King Underground Records, Boora is recognized as  “the father of Russian beat scene”, no less. Together with his good friend and longtime collaborator on all fronts Krane, they came up with this many-sided work of beauty and depth. Soulful hip-hop beats meet heavily swung house, sophisticated techno and a nice slice of timeless electro, all based on obscure soviet samples, excerpts from long-forgotten scientific and documentary movies, chopped drum breaks and complex groove programming – created with the classic hip-hop set of tools: Akai MPC 3000 and E-Mu SP-1200. 
    On the metaphorical side of things “Boorane” is the clear reference to “Buran” - the legendary Soviet space program and the eponymous space shuttle! Beyond the mere name – the EP is loaded with sounds, related to the space exploration, including the shuttle engine start at the very beginning of this special music journey, leading us to straight into space with a reassuring hip-hop beat. 
    Boorane’s music has the capacity to work on so many levels. Being down to earth and clearly physical on the one hand, with the heavy grainy beats and gritty textures that are ready to shake the dance-floors, their music has an unmistakable timeless touch, yielding high aspirations and thoughts about space and time. The vivid example is “Find The Way” - a collaboration with the label boss Lay-Far – a real pacifist manifesto with its reassuring thoughts about the future of the world – “Love has got to find the way” and “step by step” are the phrases effectively repeated as mantras throughout the track, making us believe the prospect is just inevitable! Being influenced by the wide range of musicians, like Theo Parrish, Atjazz, Miles Davis, James Brown, Pete Rock, Dj Premier and notably Soviet jazz scene i.e. Mustafa Zade, Georgiy Garaniyan or Aleksey Kucenko, Boora and Krane find the way to make their deeply-rooted music instantly catchy and likeable, at the same time bringing something unique and refreshing to the scene. PREMIERE: Boorane with Lay-Far - Find The Way

Bill Brown and Al Hall jr met around 1971, they were both in south central L.A and shared the same apartment building, also in the same building was Doug Carn and brownstone singer billy Wilson.
These studio sessions were don't at Paramount studios Hollywood where Al Hall jr was working for producer Art Smith a&c music.
The main distributor for A&C was Accent records.  So the Soul Injections very first single "Stay off the moon" was released via Accent, as was Bill Browns "Bip Bam"   The group wasn't that pleased with how Accent handle the releases so Bill took it upon himself to set up his own label called Brownstone records. Many musicians were called in for studio sessions these included 
 Doug Carn, organ; Kirk Lightsey, keyboards; Mel Bolton,
guitars; Mel Lee, drums; Al Hall jr (trombones),  Willaim 'Bill'Henderson strings.
 The label was met with some confrontation from other Hollywood labels and many of the Brownstone releases were told not to hit the shops by Mafia run labels.   Later around 1975  Brownstone released a track by Everyday people feat Alexis "world full of people"....A now cult soul 45 ....But wait,  we at Super disco edits have unearthed the original tapes with the very first incarnation of that song and music, different lyric content and sung by Bill Brown.  Not just this you get the instrumental on the b side!!

@zlovecraft whips together a version of 30/70's "Breaking". Crafted inna RS HQ using strictly analog outboard gear, Mali (Z Lovecraft) strips the songs down to their bare essentials, adds a heavy break and goes wild on the effects: each version is live dubbed in one take from our South London Studio, for maximum soundboy murderation.

30/70 - Breaking (Z Lovecraft Dub Version)

@banoffee-pies drop their third Beats release “Samba Del Sol” with Clifford Brown & Jean Bassa Ft. Ella Mae Sueref - The album is influenced by Carnival and Latin sounds with Hip Hop drums and Soul roots - meeting in middle ground as an expression of the production duos upbringing, John’s heritage in Mauritius and Cliffords childhood in South America. Partnered with Ellas Spanish language fluency and soft Badhu acclaimed voice as previously heard on the single Stop Rewind credited by the like of Gilles Peterson and Mr. Scruff.

The tape was recorded on Garageband by Clifford Brown and Jean Bassa with 2 Karaoke Microphones, mixed in Bath and later buried on a hard drive for over 6 years never to be heard again. Sliding into the forgotten darkness of lost tracks and rediscovered in 2017. The production, originally just an instrumental, was then found and reignited, revamped with a vocal insert from the wonderful Ella Mae Sueref.

The 10 track album demonstrates a flurry of drums and latin inspired sampling and mesmerizing vocals from start to finish. For the music and the lovers. Living room jams made in smoke x
