Rome’s WHITESQUARE gives “Shifting Basslines feat Chicks on Speed” a powerful 90s progressive house inspired spin. Last but not least, the Las Vegas duo THIRD CULTURE (aka Sian & Sacha Robotti) are taking a swing at “I Love Watching You feat Arnaud Rebotini”, emphazising the noir EBM vibes of the original.

Since the first time I entered a studio to produce music La Tour has been a constant inspiration.

From time to time in over 30 years I’ve been looking back to his seminal composition “Blue” to find inspiration on the atmospheres and to the extremely creative melodic and rhythm solutions inside what I consider one of my favorite track of all time in electronic music. 

Today I’m releasing my own cover version of another outstanding tune by La Tour, “People Are Still Having Sex”. Have been dreaming for so long to realize it but it took a while to build the confidence to measure myself with such a masterpiece. 

I hope you will find it nice and for those who don’t know the original maybe a chance to discover a piece of our history.

Now, what do we have here... A brand new offering by Mr. Panthera Krause. You know, Krause as in Riotvan shareholder and co-curator, fun guy behind the decks (and in general) and last but not least innovator and maverick of all things House. Krause has been proven over the course of his previous EPs on Riotvan that his approach to electronic music is one of a kind and never lacks a certain tongue in cheek attitude. Exactly that is now validated by these two new cuts, maybe more concise and on point than ever. And these tunes are not only an indicator about where the boy is at right now, they are also a foretaste of an album that will be released later that year on Riotvan.

Side one contains the "Genki Girl", a character of the rather quirky kind, it seems. Krause introduces a beat rich in cowbell and tambourine use, topped by a guitar lick, that sparks some memories of that time when Funk and Punk fell in love and a label like DFA had its heydays. While adding synth arrangements, one could assume, Krause might've gone a bit bonkers for a second. And that's applying to both, the rhythmic patterns as well as the lead that throughout time gets adapted by various other instruments. A rich and haywire tune that still retains an utmost floor appeal. 

Same goes for "Spring Irre" on the flipside. As the German title already indicates, this one is even nuttier. Guitar samples triggering a certain Talking Heads memento meet eccentric pitchshift modulations and an indeed jumping bass sounding as if it was played by Bootsy Collins on ephedrine. A sidestepping, plain unpredictable monster of a track that despite of all its complexity at any moment delivers groove and joy and unrestricted frenzy.

A fine balance of groove, bass and cosmic nuances, we kick off with 'One Day We'll Float' where a bulbous party bassline springs from nowhere and instantly uplifts.

It's backed by plenty more goodtime gold: 'The Heart Take Fright' nods wryly at Yazoo while chugging from here to the horizon, 'Personal Numbness' is a much more contemplative, introspective jam while 'Electric Dreams' lives up to its name with a Moroder-like prowl that quickly turns into a full-on chase.
