So imagine a three-way between the Rolling Stones, a dancehall MC, and an electro-house banger... Actually, scratch that — no need to imagine. Here it is.

This is the kind of feel-good culture clash only The Young Punx could pull off.

Front and centre is the larger-than-life Spoonface (aka Elroy Powell), who improvised the vocals in under a minute in the booth. Yes, the man’s been in EastEnders and Star Wars, and he sang the Black Legend hit “The Trouble With Me.” Oh — and there's even a Lego mini-figure of him.

Add to that some swaggering guitars from Rob Harris (Jamiroquai) and drums from Alex Reeves (Elbow), and you’ve got a serious genre-mashing party starter.

“So So Right” is the teaser single from The Young Punx’ long-awaited fifth studio album WPUNX, coming later this year... if they ever finish it.

Bios are hard to write. 😅 And I rather do something else. But here's some stuff my bio would include:

- Music is both my hobby and my job.

- I'm a musician, DJ, Producer. 

- I'm an ex amateur Skateboarder. 

- I founded a label and collective called Discotexas / DTX with my friend Moullinex. It's been a while. 

- I'm grateful I've collaborated with a ton of artists that are also my idols. Name dropping time? ok: 
Moullinex, Vaarwell, Rampa, WhoMadeWho, Lazarusman, Gisela João, AWEN, GPU Panic, Sinego, Meta_, DJEFF, SKALA, Joris Voorn, Adana Twins, Acid Pauli, O Terno... I'm lucky. 

- I've released music on Discotexas, Anjunadeep, Cercle, Moblack, Monaberry, Frau Blau, Deutsch Gramophone, TAU, Watergate...

- 3 albums, tons of EPs, Singles and remixes. Some movie soundtracks. And I've never been nominated for a Grammy :(

- I'm still in love with Punk and Hardcore music and ethics. A big part of me and of my inspiration come from these styles of music / ways o living. 

- I'm a skeptical utopian.

- I suffer from mild tinnitus. Please protect your hearing. 

- I have no idea where I see myself in 10 years.

The Young Punx create omnidirectional high low electronica. Born in 2003 out of London’s vibrant underground mashup, bootleg and breakbeat scenes they continue to celebrate and subvert the dance music form in their own world where the norms of house, jungle, hip hop and breaks are disrupted by a seemingly random sound-clash of genre mashes and pop culture incursions. 

The Young Punx have always been running the opposite direction in a parallel world where an electro house track can feature both a rap made from the shipping forecast and a shred metal guitar solo (Rockall); a disco house remix of an annoying TV advert can end up 25 to 1 for Christmas number one (Got Your Number), an internet collab with one of the world’s leading indie rappers can create the boxing anthem for a generation (Ready For The Fight), they can join forces with Amanda Palmer and Peaches for an ode to female body hair (Map Of Tasmania); or throwaway tracks can sit side by side with a deeply moving 15 minute exploration of the ennui of loss and the passage of time (All These Things Are Gone). The Young Punx make no sense at all and are pretty much cool with that. 

The Young Punx’ music is the some time side project of multi-Grammy-nominated multi-platinum musician / producer Hal Ritson who has worked on about a 1000 other tracks that you have actually heard of. 

The Young Punx visual presentation is created by esteemed Dutch multimedia artist Han Hoogerbrugge whose surreal cast of hand-drawn and cgi-animated characters front the act’s artwork and form part of his own exhibited work. 

The Young Punx FM podcast, offering a trademark mixture of eclectic dance music and drunken banter, has been running since 2007 with tens of thousands of regular listeners worldwide.

One of Canada’s most mercurial artists, Joel Gibb is the lead singer, songwriter and choir captain of The Hidden Cameras. Forming in Toronto in 2001, Gibb and his gang of musical provocateurs have created music and live performances legendary for their raucous, unfettered celebration of freedom and sexuality.
