Singing has always provided almost an instantaneous sense of comfort. I come from a family rooted heavily in deep southern blues. I love raspy, deep vocals, growling vocals, slide guitars, electric guitars, and laying everything out within a song. As a singer, my music embodies that almost rough, unpolished, raw, and gritty essence you get listening to blues music. I love bringing rock and funk into my songs because it further just takes over you and places you where you need to be. I'm heavily inspired by Curtis Mayfield, not only because of his obvious mastery of musicianship but because he has this ability to speak on hardships in life. These things can be emotionally draining but keep you dancing at the same time. Other influences I look to include Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Lauryn Hill, Otis Redding, and Alicia Keys.
