My name is Kristen Charles-Francis and I am a new and upcoming female DJ from Brooklyn, New York who goes by the name of DJ Crusian which represents my birthplace, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. I started my mixing career about three years ago in college because I developed this interest in soca mixes from top international DJs. I come from a Caribbean/West Indian background where my parents are from St. Vincent, St. Kitts and St. Croix where I grew up listening to calypso and soca music throughout my childhood up until now. Because of this, I was very intrigued on how DJs take the time to create mixes where songs and riddims can be blended and make one sound and I wanted to learn the skills and techniques on how to become a DJ. After three years, even through these trying times, I can say that music has become my muse, and each and every day I continue to admire and be inspired by famous DJs who have graced this earth with their talents and continue to influence new and upcoming entertainers like myself and because of this I want to continue learning from them, as I practice daily, learn more about different genres and develop ways to connect with people through the sounds of music .
