W. Jeremy is a NYC based DJ/Producer and is co-owner of the Get Up Recordings label with such artists on the roster as Honey Dijon, Kim Ann Foxman, Fatherhood, The Carry Nation, LaurenFlax, Violet, Juan Ramos and WTCHCRFT. He has produced under the moniker House of Stank as well as independently as W. Jeremy. While in college he worked for the legendary Tony Humphries to help him launch the Yellorange label before moving to San Francisco and re-emerging as a DJ holding a 5 year residency at the world-famous Endup for the Saturday morning party, Otherwhirled. Upon moving back to NYC he began to produce with his first two releases on the Godfather of Acid and creator of the Wild Pitch sound, DJ Pierre’s label, Afro Acid Digital. He also has releases on Dust Traxx Chicago, Southern Fried Recordings, Ultra Records, Trax Chicago, Kinetika Records as well as his own imprint. He has held residencies at Marquee NYC, XL Nightclub, Le Bain at The Standard NYC and has played such festivals as the P.S. 1 Summer Warm-Up Series and the LifeBall in Vienna.

When Vicki asked me to make this Deep South mix I began by thinking a lot about what she has created for us; the dance floors, the dark rooms, the music, the community.  For me, coming back into post-lockdown party spaces has exposed my own insecurities and feelings of uncertainty. A newly experienced lack of confidence, negative social comparison, and self-doubt is something that many of us have been experiencing. You are not alone if you are having these feelings, so talk about what you are going through with your chosen family; honesty and vulnerability is healing. 

My message is you will always find love and community on the dance floor (do yourself a favour and check the dark room too). Find the love for yourself first, feel the love of the music, share your love with the new cuties, but most importantly reaffirm your love for your friends. We won’t have these moments forever so savour them.

A couple weeks before the planet hit the pause button we got to have one glorious night losing our shit in a former wheat factory in Mexico City for the BackdoorXL festival. In one of the side rooms @keenanorrdc stole the show with some of the hardest hitting house we have ever felt. The room was electric and the walls were literally dripping with sweat. The vibe was horny. So we’re very happy to have Ms. Orr bring some of that energy to our podcast series with the latest entry that reminds us that house is where our home is.
