NARKED RECORDS is proud to announce the release of “TO BE A BIRD”, (10/10) the third single by THE GROOVE PROJECT 

The current 8 man lineup of the musical group, fronted by GRAMMY® Award nominated Artist, Producer and Songwriter ARUN SHENOY also includes acclaimed producer MATTHEW SHELL, pianist LONNIE PARK, saxophonist MARCUS MITCHELL.

Working on a concept album about man’s fascination with flight, the inspiration for the debut single, “Pilot” (07/31) came from the popular quote by author and speaker Michael Althusser: “The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the Pilot.” Following suit, the inspiration for the second single "First Flight" (08/30) comes from the quote by Leonardo da Vinci -  “Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”

This third single "To Be a Bird" (10/10) has been inspired by the quote by Neil Armstrong – “Gliders, sailplanes, they are wonderful flying machines. It’s the closest you can come to being a bird.” 

The inspiration for this fourth single comes from the quote by Welch Pogue - “Unlike the boundaries of the sea by the shorelines, the “ocean of air” laps at the border of every state, city, town and home throughout the world.”

With the launch of a new single every month culminating in a full length album in the summer of 2020, producers Matthew Shell & Arun Shenoy, have chosen to take a production direction leaning more towards the Smooth Jazz style, with each member of the group bringing a unique perspective to the music. 

The single has been released on 10/10 in digital format with the distribution handled by DashGo. Radio promotion is being handled by Neal Sapper at New World N Jazz Marketing and Publicity and Marketing by Beth Hilton at The B Company

The inspiration for this fifth single “NEVER TOUCH THE GROUND” (12/10) by THE GROOVE PROJECT comes from the quote “Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” - Douglas Adams.

The artwork by Alexandra Haris features an eagle majestically flying through the air. These magnificent and awe-inspiring birds of flight are known to catch their food even without ever touching the ground.
