Their debut full-length album, released on CD-only on Down Low in 2004, has now been re-mastered for a 2x12" vinyl release and features nine tracks from the original.

"The Connection Machine is Jeroen Brandjes and Natasja Hagemeier. Jeroen played synths in several industrial punkbands in the 1980’s. and Natasja is a formal musician who plays classical piano, spinet and clavichord. Their paths crossed in 1991, when they were both working at a club in Utrecht, Netherlands. 

They became interested in dance music, in no small part due to their fascination with computers and computer-related arts and philosophies. They recorded their first song together with a DJ from that club in Utrecht. Hooked by that experience and very inspired by Detroit techno, they decided to start making music on their own and bought a sampler and a computer. From that moment on they focused totally on music. 
...
Much of [Painless] was slated for an album release on Planet E in the mid-late 1990’s, but alas, the album never came to fruition... The album is full of achingly deep moods and is pervaded by a feeling of warmth – it’s a captivating journey through dreamy acid house, downtempo electronix, ambient, and Detroit techno."

We are pleased to present ‘Hallways’ the third full length from Austin, Texas analogue hardware enthusiast Bill Converse. Immersed in the early days of the 90s midwest rave scene, Bill began DJing at a young age in Lansing, Michigan. Luminaries such as Claude Young, Traxx, and Derrick May were key early influences. Techno, noise, ambient and tape processing are all part of his uncanny sound palette. 
‘Hallways’ is an 80 minute journey spread across 12 tracks and 2 slabs of vinyl. All tracks were recorded directly to tape with no overdubs, made at Converse's home studio over the past 2 years. Bill says, “One idea for this album is 'through bardos’,  the gap or moment of transition between two things according to Buddhism. Like an experience in meditation and attempting to find realization/s on the way through the illusory and interdependent nature of good old fashioned REALITY.”  Built around crunchy synthesizers, harsh drum machines and jarring acid lines, the tracks share a darker tone than Bill’s previous albums and one song features guest vocals by music gourmet Carlos Souffront, a true DJ's DJ from Detroit. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each 2xLP is housed in a jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with rich purple and smokey turquoise kaleidoscopic patterns.

I don't normally upload other DJs sets on my SC but I'm making an exception with this one. It's done by the incredible Murf live at Superfreq a few weeks ago. If you don't know Murf you should. He's easily my favourite DJ in the world & was resident with me at the legendary Subterrain at The End from 1995-2002. Murf is the Techno Yoda. There's nothing he doesn't know about House & techno music & is a human encyclopedia on cutting edge dance music. Murf has been very ill of late & is in hospital having various types of major surgery. He'd been in hospital for over a week when we had Superfreq & got special permission to leave hospital for 24 hour to come to play for us. The word trooper is a least we can call him. In pain, drugged up to his eyeballs on meds & pain killers, Murf arrived half way through my set to rapturous cheers & applause from the London faithful who all know what hell he's been going through. This set turned FOLD club in London upside down & is a true example of what an amazing DJ & human being this man is. I doff my cap Sir & it's an honour to be able to put this set up on my page & also to call you my friend. I love you brother. <3
