On the heels of his collaboration with DoYu Digital founder smol at the start of 2021, Vancouver’s Chrizpy Chriz now graces the Calgary-based label with a cinematic offering of 160 bpm bass-driven breaks. “Set In Stone” opens with a palpable, texture-heavy bassline layered over a soundscape worthy of a sci-fi film. Slowly the track rolls into hypnotic drum-and-bass-styled percussion as the bassline pulses over top, filling every space with resonating deep frequencies. These elements fully highlight why Chrizpy Chriz’s music made it onto BBC Radio 6’s programming earlier this year, and why bass news giant UKF described him as “consistently and successfully pushing the boundaries of experimental bass music.”
