The 19th edition of our FUSE series comes courtesy of the globally respected Phillip Washington aka Cygnus (CPU, Craigie Knowes).

The Electro and Techno producer, hailing from Dallas, Texas, has shared the stage with the likes of Autechre, Egyptian Lover, Dopplereffekt, Deltron & more and he has cemented his status as a legend in the scene. This has led to him releasing on a growing list of reputable labels such as the mighty Central Processing Unit, Breakin' Records and Craigie Knowes. 

Cygnus is a vital cog in Dallas' Electro scene, but he has also released Breakcore, IDM and other styles of electronic music. It can be hard to know where to start when you first dive into his catalogue. There's a sense of expertise to how he builds on Electro's established style. Whatever the formula, he has quickly risen to be widely acknowledged as a titan of the scene, since he started releasing music in 2012. Cygnus also established his own label; Biosoft Records in 2014, for which he regularly self-releases his own productions.

Berlin-based Levente has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies. He’s even had his thumbs in some. (Do thumbs count as fingers? If they don’t, how come there’s a ‘middle finger’?)

We first met Levente at FM2018 when we booked his buddy and collaborator Bobbie*. Previously based in Hamburg he & Bobbie* ran Acid Tears together at the city’s famous Golden Pudel alongside two more of his own parties, Fruits and OGAY, at Pal. He’s now resident at Berlin’s iconic white-roomed HÖR radio while also running new venture Easy Direct alongside Iron Curtis.

Having previously booked FM resident Elena Colombi to play at Acid Tears, musically Levente is cut from a similar cloth – a monthly ‘Cricket Talk’ show on Mutant Radio Tbilisi taking listeners on a trip to the more distant shores of the musical universe. It’s a feeling explored with his band Schulverweis, a collaboration with L.F.T., whose debut album ‘Suppe’ earlier this year was so authentically fuzzy and punky it’s hard to believe it’s not a recently-unearthed 80s cassette.

For his roving FM mix, he says he’s ticked both the ‘weird’ and ‘fun’ boxes – and what more could you need in times like these?
