I've been on a David Kernan kick lately. I enjoy his performance of this, a song I always find rather scary to listen to, if it's done well - I do tend to like the London recording of 1776.

David Kernan appeared in Upstairs, Downstairs - I was amused to be reminded that his character lived on the same street as my family and I did in London. Anyway, I always thank  goodness he was so determined to get Side By Side By Sondheim on - it was part of my introduction to Sondheim, all these years ago and he was a rather dashing Count Malcolm :)
