Decodex opens a portal into uncharted psychedelic territory. Designed for both deep inward journeys and the dancefloor, each track was crafted by Pablo Awad through intense studio sessions and experimentation with FM and wavetable synthesis, balancing raw intensity with precise sound clarity.

Onset

Inspired by the burgeoning Psy-Trance scene of Cape Town, Nano Records was born in 2000 as an international voice for South African producers.  Over the years Nano Records has expanded into one of the top Psy-Trance labels on the international scene and is now home to artists from around the world.  A global label with deep roots in Africa.

A lot has changed and developed over these last 16 years.  Not only does the SA Psy scene now have a wide range of world renowned DJs & Producers, but also has massively successful Decor Artists, Visionary Artists & Festival gatherings.  The scene in South Africa continues to grow and morph, at times influenced by the international Psy scene, at other times dancing to the beat of its own drum.

In celebration of this we have collected a taste of music and art from some (and this really is only 'some' - as there are many more flavours) of South Africa's top Psy-Trance producers and Visionary Artists.  So prepare yourself for a strong dose of South African Psychedelics!

Mandala is the sonic sage we've been waiting for!  A man of many talents, who has travelled the world collecting reams of natural sounds to stretch to infinity using his enviable knowledge of samplers and finely tuned production techniques.  He has distilled his life experiences and wisdom into the narrative of his musical creations, like a sonic-wave based diary of inspired frequencies from beyond this realm.

Since the early nineties when Angus was gifted a case of potent music on DAT, his life has been all about sharing, playing, living and breathing psychedelic music and art in all its forms.  It is this passion, drawn from a deep playful curiosity for the unknown, that has resulted in his signature sound. 

Paying homage to the history of the genre, yet maintaining a cutting edge current UK Psychedelic vibe, his deep melodies weave an intricate tapestry of sonic interest in this breakthrough album.  Daring arrangements that challenge the norm and bass as big as it gets rumbles beneath acid drenched grooves, oozing with the intensity of a truly passionate artist determined to create something remarkable. 

After a string of highly acclaimed EP releases and collaborations on Nano Records with the likes of Tristan, Pogo, Braincell and many more, Mandala has spent the last two years solidly locked in the studio creating this masterpiece of a debut album. Cris aka Dr.Hoffman has been doing mass trance hypnosis and collective hallucinations since the year 2000. Mexican psytrance pioneer and entrepreneur has performed in parties and festivals with up to 15,000 people with excellent results on the dance floors. With releases on more than 40 compilations, gigs in places like the legendary Natraj Temple in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Ibiza, Hoffman is one of the most active producers from Mexico in the last decade. Collaborations with artists like GMS, Cyrus the Virus, and many more have raised the standards in his music making him one of the most demanded Live acts in his country.
