Alexis Le-Tan and Tom Colebrook quite fluidly morph into our lazy initials: ALTC. Our current appreciation for an older psychedelic sound can be traced back to a dirty, careless and omnipotent period in the early 90’s when the sun, the Fridge Club or Space Tribe leggings brought our bodies together in time to these heroic sounds. Then it all sort of just wound down, more abruptly for some, and for a long time. But like old Smaug under the Lonely Mountain, we understood the longevity of gold. A few years just gone we embarked on a restlessly chaotic and passionate re-appraisal of our sonic past - just at a different speed. An ever growing archive and many edits later, we find ourselves still going; we are a happy and volatile little team, Mr. Le-Tan, who needs no introduction here, a Titan of this  slow sound - arguably the original, whose honed booth selections are regularly adorned by loyal crowds all over Europe. Mr. Colebrook, a flash in the pan veteran of the Goa scene, now mainly chief archivist and an Internal wordsmith of ill repute. 
There was a folder that existed in the archive called ‘The Socialists’ and over time as we pondered it, we began to understand the contents as taking on some sort of metaphor for a socialist arc of success and defeat, of growth and change, of hope and loss, of commitment and desertion, of lies and the truth, of battles and peace, emptiness and loss. Heroic themes indeed Comrades. As a musical selection, we wanted to imbue these metaphors with corresponding sonic inflections, sometimes we thought of sounds coming up through the ground to fight and be victorious or perhaps to lose, only to retreat and live another solitary day. Some were sounds for a moment of blissful morning sun soaked success, or the grey pulse of an imagined industrial trench. But above all - this selection of songs shows a commitment to each other and to the time and place they were made, and how they exist here - Now. We hope you enjoy the show!

Born and raised in Sicily but now based in Berlin, SLV is known for his innovative approach to techno and its various shades. He has released on revered labels like Soma and received support from key industry players who respect his ability to blend old-school vibes with modern production techniques. Away from the club, he also produces music for film soundtracks, adding a sense of cinematic edge to his techno cuts and is a master of both analog and digital technologies - a true audio engineer who crafts unique, compelling sounds. Having previously featured on the label's ‘Federation of Rytm III’ compilation, he returns to SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint with his ‘Night Echoes’ EP to open up October.

‘Graustufen’ opens with punch drum programming and scintillating percussion that dances atop the groove as booming bass brings serious weight down low. The superb ‘Grand Cayman’ is another potent techno weapon, this time with icy synth atmospheres and eerie moods pervading the tightly programmed drums and bass to deliver an unstoppable force. ‘Voids’ brings urgent funk with its hunched-over, closely stacked kicks and suspensory pads, which never let up and keep you locked in the moment, while ‘Elastik Pho’ echoes a classic Detroit sound with its soul-drenched beats and serene, uplifting, beautiful hi-tek style. Last but not least, ‘That Night’ shows SLV’s extraordinary range as it brings some soulful vocal loops and optimistic chords over thunderous drums, which are sure to power dance floors through to euphoria. The EP includes two digital bonus cuts: ‘Basic Uno’, which is a raw, percussive and heads-down banger, and ‘Persistence Of Memory’, which is stripped-back, glitchy and dubby techno for strobe-lit warehouses.

Listen to 'Lugia' by Sortblod taken from 'Nye Sange' out on 15th November, self-released.

Behind the moniker, Sortblod is musician and songwriter Gustav Hedemann Christensen, who, in addition to his work for his solo project, is also part of the Danish indie-trio Uden Ord.

This fall (15th of November), he is releasing his debut album ‘Nye sange’ ('New songs'), consisting of 5 songs with lyrics (in Danish) and vocals, and 5 instrumental compositions. The songs oscillate between themes of love and care, while also attempting to understand various forms of despair and their origins. Amid a collage of sounds, including ceramic keyboards, acoustic guitars, sine wave synths, and homemade beats, the listener is often guided by a present and bright vocal. Through these intimate tones, the album explores how the cute and lingering might soften some of the harsher aspects of society.

The instrumental part of the album is, amongst many other things, inspired by Ohio-based sound genius Galen Tipton, ambient legend Pauline Oliveros, and a general TikTok-paced stream of consciousness. On the album it is often the contrast between the fast and the slow that seems to emerge to the surface, commenting on our consumer society and asking questions about how to create an alternative way of thinking and being.

''Danish sound artist, producer and film composer Simon Littauer announces his highly anticipated debut album ‘Modular’ to be released on Danish label katharsis, who has built a decent following the last few years, releasing music by prominent artists like ABADIR, jacob,Lyra Valenza, QuitLife and many more.

The album is a culmination of Littauer’s over 9 year-long journey with eurorack modular synthesizers. All the tracks on the album are recorded as one-takes, with no multi-track recordings or editing. Overall, the album is a playful and experimental album that travels through many different genres, but with a consistent melancholic tone, that maintains the listener all the way throughout the 12 tracks.

Littauer explains, ‘‘My vision was to build a portable modular system on which I could perform, and improvise, while being able to recall sequences, samples, and settings reliably during live concerts, without having to re-patch between tracks. I feel like I can confidently say that I succeeded with that. The sound and structures of the album are formed by how I configured my modular synthesizer, which made sense in a live performance context as well as other artists I heard during the process of making it. The complexity, impressive sound design, and machine-fluency of Richard Devine, whom I was fortunate enough to have as a teacher in the lead-up to the making of the album. And having followed the eurorack scene for many years - artists like Colin Benders and Caterina Barbieri have influenced my work as well’. 

Littauer’s modular system is a 208 hp eurorack setup developed throughout 7 years. It is based around a Vector sequencer by Five12, the ER-301, configured as a live-effects engine and mixing console, two Hector modules from Poly, and two Bitboxes - one containing modulation signals and the other one containing oscillators and drums. One reverb module and a single module for macros and transitions developed by Littauer himself. The entire album is recorded on the ER-301itself, during live performance.''

"Los Ojos Ajenos Ven Ruinas de su Propia Alma" is a collaboration between Tucumán-based producer KRXNX and Córdoba's Martín D'Alessandro (ROOi), combining the ethereal with the earthy in a distinctive fusion of ambient, house, psychedelia, and Argentine folklore. 

Drawing from the vibrant landscapes of the Argentine countryside—the misty sierras of Córdoba and the lush yungas of Tucumán—the EP weaves together minimalist soundscapes, slow tempos, and atmospheric guitars. Ethereal vocals ripple through the tracks, evoking a sense of vastness and solitude, echoing the essence of the roads and inner country. 

With its delicate balance of organic textures and electronic depth, the project offers an introspective journey through sound, connecting tradition with innovation in an evocative sonic experience.

Penryn - Amen Reload [Premiere]

Entering NHS territories we have SHALT of London origin, Amsterdam-based, manager of his own fresh imprint REMADE and whose works have featured alongside Atrice; duo who have contributed to the NHS universe previously with their 'Accumulation Zone' EP. His offering and debut on the Label is a blistering set of transmogrified aspects of electro, techno, UK Funky and leftfield, UK-oriented bass into abrasive, molten-like tracks that play on the fault line of mechanical and natural through rigid, tight rhythm and granular, time stretched and downright sinister sonics.

Our artist reflects on the EP's title 'Mistral', it's namesake being reference to a wind path that runs through Southern Europe, acting as a folkloric and simultaneously scientific form of purification for the terrain that it flows through. The aural quality of the release, a pairing of rigidity and organic flowing freedom, is personified acutely through this with clear intention; audio sweeps and rumbles steadily, shifting into flutters and jitters, much like the haphazard elegancy of wind as it moves where it likes.

Equally, this sense of science and modernity that is evident through the use of digital technology is inadvertently juxtaposed against the ancient forms of geological understanding evident through folklore and druidry; SHALT feels they have used this as a means to invite the diminishing world of the ancients to cavort with the new world.
