For this 5th edition, Fanzine Project proposes a new set from one of its cofounders, our friend ROI !

ROI is one of the most alert and creative minds in Spain, but also an insatiable producer, if we talk about experimenting with the electronic music from all angles. This is attested to by his Fanzine project, which he co-directs with The Panic Room. And it is that, in this electronic principality, where everything is governed by concepts such as purity, elegance and devotion to music, people like Roi are admired, capable of sacrificing his best years to contribute their grain of sand to the cause, forming professionals.
As a DJ he manages, without losing sight of his tendency to dance and reflection, to combine, depending on the moment, a multitude of genres with coherence and enjoyment, in equal parts, until weaving together a story with a beginning, middle and end.

He does not lack notable virtues, but the ones that should be recognized the most are his perseverance in his musical project and empathy with the public on the dance floor. In the same way, as a producer, he manages to give coherence to a wide amalgamation of influences from several decades, this unique work is very personal, and like few others, it is capable of triggering a feeling that is sometimes disconcerting, familiar and welcoming at the same time.

ROI could be defined as a cultural agent, who, beyond bringing a breath of fresh air to the dance floor, tirelessly seeks to renew the musical language with brilliant ideas that make that experience magical, unique, but above all, so much fun. as accessible and enriching.

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @risataniguchi for its 104th episode of Amplify Series.

Risa Taniguchi is arriving at the forefront of the dark techno wave that has washed over the underground in recent years. The Tokyo born - and based - artist has spent recent years cultivating her own signature sound of distorted textures, fizzing synths and a quietly burning energy, which consumes all who hear it. Delivering shocks and surprises with a curious motif or unpredictable element on her set, for those who like to cut loose in a dark environment, she is the perfect selector.

In the studio as well as the club, Risa focuses on the drums, programming kicks that bring visceral and often aggressive thrills next to a uniquely addictive layer of well designed snares and hi hats. Her signature has become her own subtle and intriguing vocal samples, best heard on Slipped My Mind and This Guy. She adds layers of acid bass and an always raw, edgy aesthetic. Having experienced them first hand whilst living in London, in 2010, Risa also has an enduring love of underground UK bass sounds, which can be heard in many of her tracks. The multi-talented act is also formally trained and a skilled player of the piano, who continues to play daily.

Since her first release back in 2018, Risa has attracted high profile interest from A-list players Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, Chris Liebing, Pan Pot, Dense & Pika, and Radio Slave; has hit the Top 5 of the Beatport's Leftfield Techno Chart and played everywhere from De Marktkantine in Amsterdam to Watergate in Berlin, while setting herself regularly at her resident Womb Tokyo, and of course all the most revered spaces all across Japan including Vent, and Joule Osaka.

Despite the pandemic, the recent years have proven to be a high watermark for Risa as she has delivered a continuous flow of new music, primarily on Pan Pot’s Second State, Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains, and Chris Liebing’s CLR.

One of her most notable achievements is her "So Loud EP," which skyrocketed to the top of Beatport's Techno (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic) Top Releases chart. This milestone not only underscores Risa's talent and dedication but also cements her position as a formidable force in the techno genre.

With the support from talents from around the globe, she has constantly been touring worldwide. Additionally, Risa has emerged as a prominent voice in the industry, hosting her own radio show on Japan’s major radio station J-WAVE, and was recently selected as a "Beatport Next" artist by Beatport, highlighting her as a future leader in electronic music.

Bio:
Producer, live performer and DJ from Białystok, Poland. His music is based on deep techno and ambient, which together with experimental sounds create a hypnotizing whole. In the creative process, he uses synthesizers with the addition of modular synthesis, field recordings and computer software. His sets are known for precise mixing and seamless transitions that keep listeners immersed in the story he creates. In April 2024, he released a 20-track album titled “Charbon” via Subsist Records.
Closely related to the Bialystok's music scene, especially the iconic FOMO club community. He performs not only during techno-focused events, but also at art exhibitions and other interdisciplinary events, where he plays ambient and experimental music. Mateusz is also deeply devoted to the music festivals, where years ago he became interested in electronic music and now he is actively participating in them as a volunteer and artist.
