Step aboard Owl’s intergalactic vessel and drift through the eerie beauty of the cosmic void, where particles of sound float freely - weightless and untamed. They begin to spiral toward one another, forming a swirling horde that grows stronger with every pulse. From their majestic collisions, new worlds emerge - each beat a planet, each drop a creation.

Belgium‑based artist and sound‑sculptor Pierre Nesi performs under the moniker Owl, crafting immersive deep‑space soundscapes where rhythm and atmosphere collide. With roots in drum & bass and ambient textures, his music invites listeners into orbit around pulsating atmospheres and emergent worlds. First spotted on Nord Label, and more recently appearing on Silent Season, Lowless, Huinali, Stasis, DNO, re:st and Muzan Editions, Owl’s subtle but distinct sonic journeys continue to evolve. His discography spans autonomic DnB, dreamy melancholy ambient, and genre‑bending leftfield explorations, further cementing his reputation as a master of sonic depth and expressiveness.

What we get to hear during this one hour of “Dynamic Spheres” is nothing less than a cosmic ritual. Taken from ambient worlds of divine purity the mix gradually builds up into deep and hypnotic breakbeats, which oscillate flawlessly between a spacey trippyness and more tribalistic streams. This is not a journey forward or back, but through: a descent into weightless space where halftime meets progression, and silence becomes motion.

Dynamic Spheres #033 - Owl

In a book about the Japanese tea ceremony, the author explains:

‘Great attention should be given to a tea gathering, which we can speak of as "one time, one meeting" (ichi-go, ichi-e). Even though the host and guests may see each other often socially, one day's gathering can never be repeated exactly. Viewed this way, the meeting is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.’

It is very similar with DJing. Each time it is different and distinctive. I was so happy to have this ‘once-in-a-lifetime occasion’ on Saturday at the Moon stage of Draaimolen Festival 2025. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a lot of music full of meaning and memories. My sincere thanks to all those who joined and made this gathering possible. I hope you enjoy listening to what happened.

Dubwise atmospherics flood Guy Brewer's third RA Mix.

Hear the word "Dionysus" and you picture the Greek god of ecstasy: overflowing tables, delirious revelry, chaos. Not the austere soundworld of Guy Brewer, AKA Carrier. On the surface, the UK artist's latest alias feels almost Spartan. But look closer and the Dionysian link starts to show:  it's about shedding fixed forms and identities, to allow something more true, more alive, to form. 

RA.1011 marks Brewer's third entry in the RA Mix series, following editions as drum & bass outfit Commix (RA.269) and, later, the techno alias Shifted (RA.310). "I guess it's an effort to step away from purism," Brewer told <i>Resident Advisor</i> back in 2023. "Right now the thresholds between genres are where you find the most exciting music." 

Carrier's phenomenal debut album, <i>Rhythm Immortal</i>, delivers on that promise. Low-end pressure cloaks like foreboding shadows, punctured only by eerie, otherworldly percussion comparable only to Photek or T++. Listen to the LP in full and it feels like walking through a scene in a true-crime drama: a fog-drenched city street in the deep of night, ambushed by gusts of wind, whispers and strange noises—and it sounds totally, utterly original.

Tracing a line through dub pressure, fractured percussion and narcotic ambience, Brewer explores that same world on RA.1011. As with the album, there's a primal pulse that threads through the recording. Walls of negative space seem to hover before dissolving inexplicably, their tension intact; drums move more like the weather than rhythm. - Bella Aquilina

Sub-breath murmurs through shifting structures, where rhythm dissolves in a fog of echoes and reflections. Fusing ambient layers where the air vibrates with soft pulses and deep frequencies, maintaining a balance between clarity and dissolution.

Andriy K. (@andriy_k) is a Kyiv-based producer and DJ, now living in Berlin. His practice explores sound as a form of self-awareness: from deep ambient states to hybrid techno sets where empathy meets machine logic. His performances intertwine therapeutic vibrations and the exploration of mental artifacts, a dialogue through cold clarity of rhythm.
