Scientists: Methane in Enceladus Geysers Could Come From Alien Life - By Ryan Whitwam on July 8, 2021 - Saturn’s moon Enceladus doesn’t get as much attention as Europa, but it too has an internal liquid water ocean. It may also be more active than Europa with frequent geysers erupting from the surface. Years back, when NASA’s Cassini-Huygens probe explored the Saturnian system, scientists were fascinated to see how much methane was present in Enceladus’ geysers. At the time, it seemed feasible the methane was naturally occurring, but that’s less likely now that new research has ruled out all the known geochemical processes. That leaves biological sources—life—as a leading possibility. 

Saturn is more distant than Jupiter, and thus its moons are even more frigid. However, like Jupiter, Saturn has a lot of gravity. As its moons orbit, the tug of Saturn’s gravity is so intense that it stretches the moon’s crust. This flexing heats the interior, a process known as tidal heating. Add together geological activity and a liquid ocean, and you have a perfect recipe for hydrothermal vents. Cassini-Huygens detected several compounds in the geyser plumes (including methane) associated with hydrothermal vents on Earth. 

While it’s possible to produce methane through non-biological processes, it’s also a common byproduct of biological metabolism. That’s why NASA and other space agencies are so keen to track down the source of methane wherever it pops up. For example, Curiosity and the Trace Gas Orbiter have been gathering data on Mars’ methane spikes for several years. While there are no missions currently exploring Enceladus, researchers from the University of Arizona were able to develop a mathematical model to try and determine what’s likely to be happening inside the moon.

Here's my attempt in "Symphonic Rock" using a free String Plugin (DSK Overture). Guitars are all "Maybach Lester" Model, my new favorite.
I had a hard time finding a title for this track. Until I played it to my friend Marcus. He immediately said that he sees mountains, highlands etc. I finally found my title :-)

The Mountain Path

Me and Hideo rock-in' it out, good old spontaneous jam style, in fun-fun-fun mode. Nothing's better than a live jam...I l-i-v-e for it! In case you might be wondering, the far off distant psychedelic vocals are in fact deliberate...I tried to create the picture that we are up in the cosmic realm among the planets and stars jamming it up oh so blissfully, trying to please the Gods, the universe and all who dwell within. We are physically so far away from one another yet spiritually, we are so near and ready...ready to give you the instant magical vibrational feeling. At least we hope we're doing that. The intox-hypno-trance vocals are actually me telling Hideo how excited I am to be jamming with him....jamming to his super charged up kit-percussion! From the first moment I heard Hideo play his drums, I was completely gone as in stoned out of my mind. We're both feeling happy high elated in the Cosmos so please do come along and join us in our Happy Hap-Hap number...take your first dose now XOXOXO

On Earth One, all of the music and lyrics are written by Dragonsail, aka Greg Hester. Likewise, all of the playing and vocal performances and recording and mixing are done by Dragonsail as well. But that's not as interesting as what's happening on Earth Two.

On Earth Two, these songs are created and performed by a scheming diva named Surrenda and her enthusiastic but clueless dog sidekick Bruce. Additional songwriting is provided by their septuagenarian feline keyboardist, Catatonia, and Onree - the sweet pup with the mean shaker. There's also some old geezers in the band who've been with Surrenda for a couple of decades who actually play real instruments, but they mostly loom in the shadows.

The range of styles in their music includes funk, psychedelia, hard rock, prog rock and disco, which they tear away at with whatever instruments and found objects they have stowed away with them aboard their ship, the Club Dragonsail.
