"Biloxi Anapanasati" was written in 2020 for the Else, If Else trio (Nolan Ehlers, perc., Zoe Markle, cb., & Benjamin Portzen, pno.) This is the recording of their July 2022 performance in Frankfurt, Germany. The piece features a long text that recounts the last days of John Kennedy Toole in the context of a breathing meditation.

StreetSong was awarded joint-First Prize at the ICSM World Music Days 2006 Short Cuts Competition and was played at the Kunstmuseum, Stuttgart, Germany on 18th July.  200 works from 30 countries were submitted. It has since been broadcast or presented in Switzerland, Ireland, UK and Serbia.

We wrote this song in response to the 24-hour news cycle and also what happens when we are ignored, talked over, doubted, stripped of our rights, and other general daily activities. But... it's still a bop.

Keep Falling Over

The song is triggered by a memory of a relationship that is already over. The question being asked over and over, "Are you gonna stay?" has already been answered. This moment is just the pathetic hope that only goes away with lots of time and crying. Also, when your pillow is soaked in tears, sometimes the only way to dry it is with the breath of a repeated question.
