The Scene on Saint Marc is a piece is based on the street activity outside my window, in three movements. The first movement, “Animals”, examines the movement of people and their interactions with one another. “Storm”, the second movement, reminds the listener of the experience of rain hitting the fabric of umbrellas and rain jackets. The third and final movement, “Night”, submerges an old Victorian-style neighborhood into the atmosphere of cheap bars, dimly lit streets, and a thoroughfare to a highway overpass. The piece ends with night surrendering itself to sleep.

This is an extract from my "Onkalo EP", now available as a name-your-price download from Bandcamp: drberndthoffmann.bandcamp.com/album/onkalo-ep

The EP is composed of three self-generating works based on (roughly) the same Eurorack modular-synth patch. Minor adjustments were made in between recordings, with little or no intervention during recording. No computers or external sequencers or processors were used, bar some reverb from an Eventide Space guitar pedal.
