For the next in our Off The Record mix series we invited DJ, radio host and music consultant Sam Don or known to his close friends and family, Sam Donnison. Sam is a DJ's DJ, having proved himself and the world over as a man of many styles, tempo and moods. Having shared the airwaves with highly regarded talent like Danilo Plessow aka MCDE and constructed mind soothing mixes for podcasts like Mr Bongo its quite hard to pin point what direction Sam will go in a set. This also shows the sign of a true digger and if Off The Record knows anything its deep diggers. This digging helped Sam curate one of the most captivating compilation series' to come out this year in our opinion; "For The Love Of You", a journey through Lover's Rock across two brilliant volumes on the ever amazing Athens Of The North. For this mix Sam has tapped into a deep dig of fun yet raw house numbers, stemming with vocals, hypnotic acid, heavenly kicks and cunning blends throughout. We had a quick sit down with Sam about the mix and what he has been up to lately. This is Off The Record 36: Sam Don!

Houschyar : As you asked me to create a mix that exemplifies my influences, I dived into stuff which has accompanied me since quite a long time. Obviously I usually put the music that inspires me
in my mixes, but here I tried to pick a wide variety of artists and pieces that have influenced me and my work a lot in recent years while trying not to play anything I have played before in radio shows.

The mix contains some of the grandparents of the music I appreciate, such as Alice Coltrane, Robert Wyatt, Ahmad Jamal, Aydın Esen, Peter Michael Hamel, as well as some more contemporary artists and friends which have been a inspiration to me such as Şevket Akıncı, Alper Maral, Piotr Kurek and Sunfear. Finally everything is glued together by a series of field recordings I collected in Mexico in the past months.

Macadam Mambo - Oddity Influence Mix by Houschyar

This is a recording from the last time I played in Los Angeles. The party was put together by the Sarcastic Disco crew along with Know-Wave.com & the Oh Wow Gallery.

It took place in an awesome warehouse/loft in downtown L.A.

After a super warm up by Alex Olson. I went on around 2am. 
This particular clip picks up about an hour into my set. 

The last song went on about 7am.
We all had soooo much fun. Thank you to everyone who made it out and made it such a killer night/morning.
