Double bass player and composer Carlos Bica is one of the most prolific and innovative Portuguese sound artists and has been a consistent presence on the European Jazz scene. 

Known for his lyrical tone on the double bass, Bica has the rare ability to write melodies that essentially are songs without words, haunting and unforgettable. Among the several musical projects he leads along with various theatre, film and dance projects, his trio AZUL with Frank Möbus and Jim Black become his showcase as a bass player and composer. For more than twenty years Carlos Bica’s AZUL has fascinated its listeners.

Josias Ender wuchs zwischen Ackerfurche und Waldrand im baden-württembergischen Nirgendwo auf, zog dann zum Studieren nach Freiburg und später zum Leben nach Berlin. Dort haust er nun und belehrt ahnungslose Heranwachsende über das Leben. Seine Musik vereint feinsinnige Texte mit kleinen und großen Melodien, vorgetragen von jungenhaftem und zugleich kratzig-sanftem Nebelgesang. Dazu erklingt eine Gitarre, die in ihrer zugewandten Melancholie eine ganz eigene Stimme erhält – und in den lauten Momenten eine Ladung akustischen Indie-Rock auf die Bühne bringt.

Seine gesungene Poesie, sein poetischer Gesang handelt von sprechenden Vögeln, von Schlafanzügen und Handys, von Betonbauten und Bären und manchmal auch von dir. Nach seinem EP-Zyklus Aus den Wäldern in die Städte (2015) und Aus den Städten in die Wälder (2017), die er selbst aufnahm und veröffentlichte, folgt 2020 sein Debütalbum Schlafanzug im Wind beim Indielabel unserallereins, das den bisherigen akustischen Sound um einige elektronische Elemente erweitert und das zusammen mit Thomas Wosnitza und Johannes Stöckholzer von der Band Tipps für Wilhelm aufgenommen und produziert wurde.

Josias Ender wird unterstützt von Grégory Coursaux - als Duo-Partner auf der Bühne, steter Freund in schweren Zeiten und farbenfrohes Illustrationswunder.
