There is a Japanese term: Mono no aware. It means basically, the sad beauty of seeing time pass - the aching awareness of impermanence. These are the days that we will return to one day in the future only in memories. How do we capture them? How could we possibly be able to fully appreciate them in the present? This project is our attempt to put time under glass.

The Midnight is a marriage between a songwriter from the Deep South and a producer from Denmark who both live in Los Angeles. This is our love song to our city and a testament to the weight these years can hold.

OLLIE WRIDE, is an English singer/songwriter fusing innovative elements of modern alternative pop with the nostalgic hallmarks of synth-pop. The artist found a platform to hone his unique blend of songwriting and showmanship working with San Francisco based producer FM-84, penning some of synth-wave’s most popular tracks including "Running in The Night", leading to 2 North American sold out tours in 2018 / 2019. 

Following this popular collaboration, provided opportunity for Wride to explore a more personal approach utilising his melodic sensibilities and character driven lyrics, quickly attracting a new audience with the release of his debut solo album, "Thanks in Advance” on NRW Records. Widely praised by fans, the album became their fastest selling debut record to date, charting on Billboards Top 10 Electronic charts as well as No. 1 on iTunes' Electronic charts. Followed by sold out headline shows at London's Camden Assembly and Lafayette.

2020 saw the release of the deluxe repress, featuring the cult hit “Stranger Love”, featured on Channel 4's Made in Chelsea. In 2021 during the pandemic, catalysed Wride’s creative output, producing a one-off live stream concert, Directed by concert cinematographer Steve Price (Queen) culminated in the vinyl pressing “Once In A Lifetime” featuring the latest single “A Matter of Time”.  Wride is now working on his highly anticipated second album with renowned producers: Chris Zane (St. Lucia) Arcades (BTS) James F. Reynolds (Sigrid)

Outland Recordings is an independent record label associated with the marketing of synthwave, retrowave, dreamwave and related genre music recordings and videos.

Ryan Morris aka Dreamkid has always been obsessed with the feelings of nostalgia, not to mention all things music. Entering the world slap bang into the mid-eighties was a major contributing factor for his love of synthwave music. Having grown up on the sunny eastern shores of South Africa and spending most of his youth surfing, skateboarding, playing guitar and listening to Blink-182, he inevitably ended up starting a pop punk band during his school years. 

Relocating to the UK in 2005 and a few years later, Ryan found himself signed to independent US label Sumerian Records in his alternative rock band New Volume. But it was through his love of 80s style pop songs however, that he discovered the New Retro Wave YouTube channel in 2015. Ryan says of that fateful day, “I always loved 80s music but when I discovered this whole synth scene I was completely sucked in.”
The global pandemic and resultant lockdown saw the birth of the Dreamkid persona and a time to hone in on his unique synthwave songwriting craft. With his androgynous look, wild care free attitude and together with his love of performing on stage, Dreamkid is hoping to stir up the world of synthwave with his own brand of nostalgic melodies.

Dreamkid is following
