Dreamscape - Voltage Modular Music Project

This is the second composition of Dreamscape - Chapter Two: "Machines". All parts of this composition are made by MLC Vanamsterdam, Radu Sover, Jim Dunn, Sada Exposada and Sam Nelson, using Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular only.

The guidelines for part two were: Theme: "Machines", BPM: 135, Scale: C LYDIAN SCALE (C = Root | C D E F# G A B)and Genre: No-limitations.

In the end I used 114 tracks, 75 mixer-channels and 122 wave-samples. 

Thanks to all contributers for making this possible. Again, it's a journey.

I hope in future we will create more chapters for Dreamscape. My goal is to reach an hour.

Hello World,

This is Dreamscape Chapter Three: "Spectral Plains". Just like all other chapters of Dreamscape all sounds used in this project are created using Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular only. The composition and mixing has been done using FL Studio.

Some facts and figures of Dreamscape Chapter Three:

- total playtime: 18:05 (approx.)
- total time spend on the composition and mixing (FL Studio time only): 23 hours and 52 minutes

All sounds are made by various artists around the globe. The artists that contributed for chapter three are: MLC Vanamsterdam, Radu Sover, Hans Holema, Sada Exposada, Jim Dunn, Luc van de Sande and Sam Nelson.

The guidelines for chapter three were: Theme: "Spectral Plains", BPM: 98, Scale: C Dorian SCALE (C = Root | C D D# F G A A#) and Genre: No-limitations.

Chapter three is split in two parts, of which the end of part two is a bit more experimental then part one. Nice detail is that when I first started this project, I envisioned it all as an experimental art piece just like the end of part two. In hindsight I am very pleased and proud to see how this project developed over time. The wide variety in musical genres that come together is just amazing.

My goal is to reach an hour of music. At the moment we are at around 45 minutes. So, I expect Chapter 4 might be... the final chapter?

This is Dreamscape Chapter Four: "Intergalactic Explorations". Just like all other chapters of Dreamscape all sounds used in this project are created using Cherry Audio's Voltage Modular only. The composition and mixing has been done using FL Studio.

All sounds are made by various artists from around the globe. The artists that contributed for chapter four are: MLC Vanamsterdam, Radu Sover, Hans Holema, Luc van de Sande, Sam Nelson and Rob Budden.

The guidelines for chapter four were: Theme: "Intergalactic Explorations", BPM: 104, Scale: A Mixolydian SCALE (A = Root | A B C# D E F# G) and Genre: No-limitations.

We have reached the goal of one hour exactly. So, sadly, chapter four is the final chapter. This was what I was aiming for, one hour of seamless music made with Voltage Modular. It was a great journey and a great experience working with different people. If it wasn't for the voltage modular user group on facebook - I wouldn't have been able to pull this off. This is one example of the power that social media can have.

This project was very challenging. In the end I spend 92+ hours on mixing and arranging all chapters. It was worth the effort and I am very proud of what we all have achieved.

Dreamscape - Chapter Four: "Intergalactic Explorations"

This is the first composition of Dreamscape - Chapter One: "Origins". All parts of this composition are made by MLC Vanamsterdam, Radu Sover, Pablo Garcia-Hernandez, Sada Exposada and Sam Nelson.

It all started the 27th of november 2020 on the Facebook page of the Voltage Modular User Group with this message: "I was wondering: does anyone feel like participating in a project solely based on voltage modular? What I would like to achieve is: "One hour of music - not individual tracks: an experience - made by various musicians all over the world in different styles/genres using only their unique patches designed in Voltage Modular".

The guidlines for contributions were: BPM: 128, Scale: C-HARMONIC MINOR SCALE (C = Root | C D D# F G G# B)and Genre: No-limitations.

We didn't make the hour unfortunately, but 14 minutes. People already said this piece feels like a journey - I have had a lot of fun making this and i would like to thank every one who worked on this project and made this possible.

I hope in future we will create more chapters for Dreamscape.

Dreamscape is a music project solely based on the modular software synthesizer made by Cherry Audio: Voltage Modular, hence the addition to the name: vmmp = voltage modular music  project. The project is initiated in november 2020 by MLC Vanamsterdam through the voltage-modular-users group on facebook.
