To guide us through the next simulated experience; Passing Notes Radio boss and 1/2 of the great new label ‘Companion', Pjenné [Melbourne, AUS], shows us what a utopian existence can sound, feel and look like.

Follow on as she glides through the stratosphere, looking down on the lush greenery and crystal water that our earth effortlessly inhabits... occasionally looking up into the vast display of distant stars and planets, glittering across the stillness of outer space.

Pjenné beautifully illustrates the phenomenology of nature through tracks which touch on each element, whether that be the ethereality of air, the intricacy of water, the depth of earth, or just the pure warmth flowing through this immaculately thought-out audible narrative.

We couldn’t help but think this would be the perfect soundtrack for the day peace on earth is declared, where humanity sits back and appreciates a new world— where collectively, we love what grows, exists and dies.

Jon Jones (@jjonjjones) is first to contribute to the DS global frequency database, with a blissed-out 3-track EP, 'Hyla'. In this program, we are situated in an open-world environment with a densely populated 3D rainforest installed. Here we will explore the realms of cybernetics and it's correlations between ourselves and the natural world.

Program A is a transcendent journey, dosed with a utopian vision. To kick-start our new solar orbit, Amsterdam's Nera (@nera-ja) has programmed the next instalment of Virtual Utopia. A 90-minute future-space voyage through progressive trance and everything that surrounds. Close your eyes, and know the destination will be great, but the journey much greater...

This program aims to imitate the sensation of drifting consciously into the never-ending centre point of focus. Within the initial section you will be greeted by an artificial-intelligence 'DEEP-DREAM™' avatar who will lift you out of earths stratosphere and into distant realities,  then will guide you through chromatic fractal hallways where yourself reflects back at you infinite times, optimised for introspection.

Tunneling endlessly through squiggly acid lines that travel through you like plasma, a macro-dosed journey through utopian visions and future civilisations,  an interlaced groove keeps this simulation a high-vibe-emitter from start to finish.  Emulating the sensation of travelling through an internet cable, spanning genres but still maintaining light speed progression.

Nera has provided an explorative, espionage mission to discover metallic artefacts of otherworldy materials. Throughout the mission there is ability to discover the distant expanse of the known universe, yet inspect the unfathomable dimensions of whats beyond the molecule.

Virtual Utopia 06: Nera

The seventh instalment of Virtual Utopia is a 68-minute trip through the known (and unknown) cosmos; piloted by London-based 'Mademoisel'. A high speed pursuit which turn supermassive stars into needles of momentary light that disappear behind you almost instantly. A mix of driving space-trance and globular rollers, which will communicate more to the 'others' than any signal from the electromagnetic spectrum ever could.

Accelerating through chromatic corridors of a blurred existence, eventually you reach an open expanse of neuron-like structures. Electrical currents whirr and glow overhead as you travel at steady speed through the network of fibres; 'Where am I?' 'Am I inside the human brain?' 'Is this the structure of the universe?'

Travelling onward into the depths of space as paint-flicked stars decorate the distance; the interconnectedness of everything 'out there' accentuates the correlations and similarities between our universe and consciousness. Exploring the cosmos does really emphasise the concept of a macro/micro-cosm.

You program the machine to a much higher speed (2.2x10^7), the engines give a deep, metallic growl and the throttle propels you backward. This vessel is optimised for entering warp speed and maintaining stability.  Through the darkness and scattered lights, planets of various colours and conditions rip past you and remind you of your tremendous velocity. This is a voyage through the expanse of our existence; to explore the rocks, gases, lights and vibrations that made us what we are.

Various refuelling stations are set between the tunnels of assisted acceleration, which connect all districts of the nebula you're in now. They are of a clinical, utopian aesthetic of perfect white and frosted glass, warped reflections of panel lighting reflect from the chrome of the other docked vehicles. Once the robotic assistant has completed it's process, you undock and proceed the expedition.

You max out every dial on the control panel of the vessel; halos of light flicker around you as steadily  increasing g-force keeps you firmly in your seat. As you pass the speed of light, pulsations of energy shiver through you as  your past visions and memories bleed into your peripheral. 'Is this the sensation of going back in time?'
At this velocity, the boundaries between dimensions dissolve and you hear the abstract conversation of incomprehensible 'beings'. 'Who are they?'

Maintaining this speed you reach an end-point; of what only can be described as the 'Mirror of Existence', where a spirit of yourself is looking back at you. A conscious duplicate 'clone' stares inquisitively and reaches out their hand.
'Is this me?' 'Or is this another me?' At some point this universal version must cease and another parallel begin, perhaps you have found it...

An in-depth audio-presentation of various snippets of existence, an eclectic mixture of conversations from the past, present and future. Here will we explore visions of distant civilisations and cultures, and delve into abstract worlds with imperceivable communication. This is a space for deep and thorough sine-wave inspection.

Weightlessly glide over vast sand dunes and feel the air glide over your shoulders like warm silk. As you pass over distant mountain ranges the scenery changes dramatically. Glades of luscious beauty which calm you instantly, as the grass sways slowly like liquid beneath you. Glistening waters ripple underneath reflecting endless sparks from the sun, and as you pass through a cloud of fog, the other end reveals misty caverns of desolate planets where life dried out many moons ago.

This program summarises the vast variety of existence, here you will examine the spectrum of 'being' through a broad selection of sonic expression. Virtual Utopia 09: Beltrac & Urban Guidance

Welcome to the latest version of Dream Software's: Virtual Utopia. The tenth update has been programmed by none other than Don Chich (@donchich), a core member of the corporation - that is, and always will be, close to the heart of the label. The southern hemispheres connoisseur of fine trance (and beyond) never fails to impress with his depth of knowledge, ability to synthesisiacally create detailed imagery in the minds of listeners, and his understanding of pace and progression throughout a set that keeps your desires and expectations in a harmonic symbiosis. Alex is a true creative in sonic storytelling, and this one is a timeless novel.

You plug in and feel the familiar sensation of shifting sensory alignment, preparing you for the program you're about to experience. As the landscape renders realtime and your retinas refocus you eventually make sense of what's in front of you. You accept the safety conditions and enter the program.  A dust-covered voyage through lands of future-past, heavy duty steel panels fitted together to the latest interstellar corporations safety 'standards' line the floor as pathways, half covered by orange sand. The panelwork extends to the external walls of buildings, doors, warehouses, and even vehicles - it must be something to do with the pressure or gravity on this planet? Extreme weather? It's hard to be sure. Either way you board a vehicle that feels as if it's waiting for you; the 30cm thick steel door slides closed behind you with a satisfying pneumatic locking system. An increasing drone of engines reaching power vibrate underneath you, the engines stabilise, and the vehicle slowly heads towards the sky, a heavy orange fog, ascending into a distant unknown.

Endless shimmering displays of various gas clouds, exhibiting far more than the visible light spectrum, populate your peripheral vision as you approach a distant quadrant of the net of reality. Constellations you've only seen and heard of through the Ethernet drift by as you allow the gravitational pull of the local solar systems to steer you through this section of deep space. A metallic asteroid being guided through the expanse of existence. Velocity increases as the sizes and number of planets do; light begins to bend in ways you throught unimaginable, layers of reality slowly tear away like burning holes through paper, and as the pace increases, what's revealed below seems impercievable to anything that exists on a dimension lower than it. It felt like a realm of vibrational egalitarianism emitting a pure omnibenevolence and omniscience that made you feel calm and at peace, an entity that felt familiar yet incomprehensible at the same time.

A computerised female voice explains it's time to turn around and head back to the initial coordinate of the program, and due to the rapid expansion of this part of space we must travel at warp speed to counter-act it. As the GForce increases the outside becomes a true spectacle; photons bending and stretching past you as the mechanics of physics become a series of unanswered questions, the phenomenology of 'now' proves the metaphysicality of existence is just as real as the physical. The vibrational information stored beyond of the quarks of existence is now visible to the naked eye and shares secret formulas of nature's code, only perceivable when you realise there is nothing to percieve.

Powering through the dark expanse at such speeds unveils the fracticality of existence. The mathematics of nature is all based on fractal equations and common series' of organic 'numerical' systems which are processed without the desire to categorise or understand. All of this information is embedded within the nucleus of every atom at a vibrational level. Does this mean music is somewhat a language of nature? Is the never ending, fractally peripheral progression of this program an understanding into natures way of doing? Or is this all something we are all too physical to understand?

Written and produced by Alex Silvi (Alien Signal) throughout the years of 1993-1994. ‘North Polar Stars’, ‘Brilliant Evening Planets’ and ‘Violent Volcanoes of Io’ originally released on album ‘Celestial Sights of the Future’ from Upland Recordings in 1993. ‘Quantum Limit’ was originally released on album ‘The Search Begins’ also on Upland Recordings in 1993, whereas ‘Atomic (Esoteric Mix)’ was a self-release from 1994.
These tracks are responsible for a huge impression on Dream Software and the sound of the label, so it is with great honour we reissue these tracks and release them back into the outersphere. The soundtrack to a retrofuturist world gleaming with optimism. A world where humanity, technology and nature exist in a peaceful symbiosis. A real utopia. We thank you Alex for your inspirational music.

The first entry in this year’s Virtual Utopia program comes from the Australian-born, Berlin-based duo, Daisy Records (@daisyrecordsmelbourne). Mitch and Obelix have crafted an entrancing 2.5-hour journey that weaves through downtempo, house, ambient techno, and trance -all infused with a shimmering ambiance that radiates warmth and positivity. Each track carries an ethereal beauty, enveloping the listener in a calming softness that invites them to close their eyes and drift peacefully through the inner, and outer reaches of their minds. 

Daisy Records are true masters at capturing a sense of ethereal spaciousness, delivering a sonic palette that soothes the mind and cleanses the spirit. This mix offers listeners the space to let their thoughts flow gently downstream, while their atoms dissipate, floating aimlessly yet never lost, free from the need for a destination.

The latest firmware update for the Virtual Utopia servers has been released, offering a simulated experience audio-coded by london-based Bethan (@bethan_l). A luscious adventure through dreamy organics, transiently spanning downtempo to trance, all immersed in sheer chromatic layers of formless, ethereal beauty. 

Here, the water glows with an otherworldly luminescence, and the delicate ripples shimmer with a soft purity that calms the soul. You breathe deeply, the clean air surrounding you radiates a warming hum so present it's almost audible. The hum feels omnibenevolent—so harmonious it seems to stretch beyond the boundaries of the physical, vibrating in tune with a dimension where only pure energy exists.

From beneath the translucent waters, something begins to rise—a presence, a fractal unfolding of light and sound, fluid and formless, bending and shifting with the rhythm of existence. It is a living, breathing connection between the unseen and the seen, a metaphysical healer from a distant reality resonating on frequencies higher than those known in our world.
Below these quiet waters, a lotus begins to grow, its petals unfolding as it reaches for the first soft kiss of light. As it blooms, ascending from the depths, it reveals a pure, radiant beauty, untouched by the darkness below. The 13th 'Virtual Utopia' program has completed its beta testing stage and is now available for download. This edition is designed by DJ Athome @dj-athome and offers a 68-minute transcendental voyage through the inner and outer realms of warping psychedelia. It spans every corner of his record collection, from spaced-out dub to ever-unfolding fractal trance, all laced with an inspiring optimism to remind you of all that is good in this world—providing you with a hopeful mindset for a positive future.

As you lay back in the soft grass of a never-ending glade of cheerful vibrance, feeling the gentle breeze brush against your skin, the pulsations of euphoric energy vibrate through your soul with a benevolent embrace and understanding. The sky above is a brilliant blue, scattered with clouds that drift and mutate slowly, shifting shapes as if they were sentient. As you stare into them, they begin to morph and merge, unfolding into intricate patterns, each cloud splitting into smaller and smaller fractals, repeating endlessly like a visible code of a hidden universe. It is as if nature herself has decided to reveal her secrets to you, a harmony between the world above and the world below. Time seems to slow, and for a moment, you lose yourself in the beauty of it all.

Virtual Utopia 13: DJ Athome

With the return of the lunar cycle, the Dream Software servers have been updated with the latest Virtual Utopia patch — now available on the etherweb. Edition 14, this time coded by London-based @ldazedj, consists of a 70-minute high-octane deployment of metallic trance and techno, with destination set for the outerverse. The travelling velocity will distort your reality, so the journey will be just as interesting as reaching the bounds of our known existence.

On the launch platform at the edge of Sector 9, the vessel stood ready — a gleaming silhouette of chrome and light beneath the arc of Earth. Designed in an era of peace and exploration, it embodied a retro-futurist ideal: sweeping fins, polished alloy, plasma coils humming with steady power.
Final inspection unfolded in perfect silence. Drones moved with clockwork precision. Sensors scanned every seam and circuit. Ion thrusters gleamed. Radiation shielding was pristine. Solar sails, folded and stowed, awaited the call of vacuum.

Inside, everything rested in perfect order. Gravity systems held steady. Nutrient modules were stocked and humming. Rest chambers floated in serene suspension. A neural archive shimmered quietly, filled with the memory of countless journeys. In the engine chamber, the core pulsed like a quiet star. One by one, green lights marked completion. No errors. No adjustments. Every system, aligned. 
Clearance was granted. The ship's coils began to glow — a slow, soft blue. Soon, it would slip into the void beyond here, bound for the unknown. For now, it stood still — flawless and luminous — a vessel of hope, built not just to travel, but to experience the future.

VIrtual Utopia 14: L Daze

This four-part aural experience emulates a gentle atmosphere of hyaline translucence, paired with an optimistic glossiness that gently reflects a warming light with a softening glow. Weightlessly swimming through a sky of drifting clouds, you softly ascend into a higher realm of radiant love.

‘I Remember My Dreams’ sonically depicts a futuristic utopianism, a world gleaming with hope and a positive future. A beautifully soft landing in a desert of clouds that fade into distant skies.

Weightless, drifting pads glide effortlessly amongst pristine drums, uplifting acid lines, a rhythmic reminder of a harmonic appreciation for ones own existence. We dream for a beautiful world, that once observed can bring light to any world living in darkness. A well deserved day in paradise, mind reclined and a softened gaze as you stare up at the vivid fractal skies in wonder.

‘Fatswoop (2002 Mix)’ is a soundtrack to a leisurely cruise through our planets exosphere. Above the clouds, perfect blue hues fade into the shaded void of outer space. Translucent synth lines of a delicate purity compliment the progressive, slowly-evolving bassline, which cohesively maintains a perfect level of lethargy in the tracks sonic trajectory. Glistening chromatics shimmer elegantly throughout, reflecting light like freshly polished chrome. Enchanting twinkles diffuse like the scattered stars that populate the endless space above. The destination is great, but here, the journey is much greater.

‘Downtown Trip’ emulates walking down a neon-lit street at a leisurely pace, whilst the glowing signage above reflects abstracted colours on the smooth panelwork of brushed aluminium. Another track which nods to the past with a futurist infusion, retro snares pierce through the layers of ever-rising arp's that feel like ascending through the stratosphere. Glossy pads that reflect the soft lighting of the sky above, all tied together with an organic low-end that holds a warming groove with it's flawlessly arranged structure.

It pulsed from floating speakers, entwined with the light hums of hovercars zipping past. The city pulsed with life, a dreamscape of metallic buildings and holographic billboards sometimes flickering with static.

‘The Beach’ is a calming, gentle experience that emulates atomic dissipation from your physical self into the surrounding atmosphere. Weightless, delicate particles sway in clouds of ethereal movement. Dancing slowly with gratitude for natures geometry. Soft, comforting pads of nurturing beauty breathe in rhythmic expansion, infused with breezy vocals like whispers from an angelic realm high above the sky. Warming twinkles decorate the space throughout like the reflection of the high sun on slow-moving waters. Drift with the stars, the atoms and the dust. Become nothing as you become everything. We are one here.

The 15th update to the Virtual Utopia program has been meticulously written by Naarm-based and China-born; Venus Flytrap. (@venusflyyytrap) Here she masterfully weaves microscopic spaced-out intricacies of IDM, ambient and off-kilter techno into a 66-minute audio-program embedded with layers of ethereal spaciousness and coded abstract breaks. Through this lens, the peripherals are the main focus. A mesmerizing soundtrack to cellular activity or the flashing LED’s of infinitely sent data packets- a sonic illustration of the parallels between computer science and microbiology, all coated in the hopeful gloss of a harmonious cyber-future.

The 17th Virtual Utopia update has been created by Mexico-based sonic scientist Gerhard (@esenciamx) - A DJ  who’s sound has been immersed in a positive floating ambience that has always been a great inspiration to us here at the Dream Software corporation. Also known for being the head engineer of the Escensia blog and mix series- a constant emission of quality sine-wave based content with a trademark euphoric infusion.

A two-hour audible offering illustrating scenes of a utopian future. An existence imbued with hope and optimism where cooling airs and a warming sun remind us of the balance needed to exist in harmony here. Comforting pads and ethereal softness drift amongst the various genres and tempos that really make this mix a beautiful sonic landscape. We hope you enjoy it.
