Electro-Swing is a fusion of electronic dance music and 1920s, 1930's & 1940s Jazz and Big Band styles with genres such as House & Electro music, made popular by artists such as Parov Stelar

The Mix also includes a few tracks from the 'Balkan' style music that uses samples from old Russian / Balkan records. Then at the end of the mix it goes off on a tangent to the 1960s... :oD

Hip hop has always been my first love as far as producing. The Vinyl Restoration series is the embodiment of that, as well as my escape from electronic music in general. I have a very simplistic approach for making the beats trying to take it back to the days of all vinyl sampling, swingy drums, and knocking snares. My aim for Vol. 5 and the series in general is to make music you can just live to.

I find myself at a juncture in my personal life where i can no longer live as if there is any amount of time guaranteed in this body, where i can no longer afford to take things for granted or resist action for fear of the outcome.  We have this beautifully delicate opportunity to live, love, and express, and it is our duty to seek our potential through all of our connections, words, thoughts, and actions.  I am learning to release attachment, surrender expectation, and accept things as they are, and i'd like to reflect that through my music.  So with this offering, this music is no longer "mine" but belongs to anyone who may find it useful in aiding growth, joy, dance, introspection, flow, love-making, intra and interpersonal connection, and any other facet of your life.

Greasy Monk (aka Ian King) is a Colorado native with a passion for music that extends far into the past, spanning a multitude of genres. With an approach and outlook that is characteristically unique, he brings to the table a deep curiosity to explore the depths of acoustic ecology. His familiarity with a wide spectrum of rhythm will gratify and satisfy ~ from ambient, downtempo, and minimal; reggae, breaks, dub, and drum&bass; house and progressive; to techno and trance – his selections are sure to captivate. As a musical drifter, he has a fluid and psychedelic style which is artfully tailored to each event.  His mixing is designed to move, groove, and provoke the listener to focus on and surrender to the soundscape. Entwining different combinations of deep and progressive composition with driving energy, he crafts his sets in a way that breaks down boundaries and gets your soul dancing.

In 2011 he joined Sculpted Sound Productions; Colorado's premier psychedelic music and arts collective at the time, which has since evolved into other forms in Colorado and California.
He is the co-founder of Rocky Mountain Resonance; a cooperative that aims to organize and promote interdisciplinary events, ideas, and cultural experiences through innovative and experimental mediums which is committed to building and enhancing creative processes through a melding of various aspects of sensory perception.  Rocky Mountain Resonance hosted many successful events such as Impulse Festival in 2016 and 2018, Full Moon Festival in 2019, and TechNectar Radio from 2013 to 2018.  TechNectar Radio was a bi-weekly podcast featuring exclusive live mixes from local Colorado DJs.
