Recorded live at Horoom in mid-March comes this next instalment from Copenhagen representative Martin Gilleshøj. The DJ, co-founder of KUNE music and arts festival, co-founder of Axces Recordings (and their event series), and head at vinyl dispensary Proton Records is a bulwark of the Danish scene. Alongside pals like previous Bassiani Podcast guest Kasper Marott, Søren Kinch and Popmix he’s been key to his city’s cultural offer, blending groovy dancefloor tracks irrespective of narrow genre categorisations with a focus on high-energy nighttime turnouts. It’s a witty spin on clubland fare, iconoclastic and highly danceable stuff that keeps the happy chemicals unanimously flowing. Another plate to spin: he also now runs Buttheads, an intimate club series turned into a record label for the work of selected friends. Through all these outlets, Martin unravels the common thread that binds his work together, laying open a mix of styles and developing something fresh in their coming together. For Bassiani Podcast 261 Gilleshøj flexes his DJ muscles and delivers three hours of wobbly prime time bangers. Fluid, shapeshifting and soulful rhythms, slick selecting flawlessly woven together, a gradual build that perfectly epitomises Horoom’s spirit. This is a sweaty, long haul set from the Danish polymath and clubfloor mischief-maker.

Tbilisi stalwart BMI brings his esoteric sound to Zenaari’s Podcast series for this next instalment. The Georgian DJ is a heavy-hitting talent on home turf, frequently stalking the capital’s venues and actively involved in several cutting-edge collectives and projects like Substract, Octachoron, Fear Pollution, 3 Suli, and Soulvent. His fluid, ever-mutating sound is smart and expansive techno that’s plugged into a wide scope of references from the outer fringes of experimental music, tying them neatly together and offering a reflective take on contemporary electronics that challenges and rewards its listeners. Clocking in at 62 minutes, this episode offers a glimpse of the inner workings of BMI’s mind: sounds that click, shift and refract, not a one out of place and coming together in a fuzzy, echoing whole. Celebrated for his deep-rooted passion for electronic music and his skillful fusion of influences from old school minimalist techno, chicagoan ghetto house, microhouse and dub.

His distinctive sound is characterized by well-chosen records and a complex mixing style that reflects his deep musical insight and attention to detail.

As a self-proclaimed 'synth head', his retro-futuristic audio aesthetic also finds its way into his own productions. Using vintage samplers and synthesizers, he creates tunes that sound like they have come out of a time capsule.
