Scream If You Want To Go Faster

On several occasions, throughout various compositions of mine, I’ve emphasized how a melody or theme was based on something I wrote long ago, during my teenage years.
In this instance, the main theme is probably one of the very first things I ever composed—likely my first 'Eureka' moment, when I first gained some clarity about my musical gifts. Needless to say, this melody holds immense personal significance.
After all this time, I’ve finally decided to properly honor it by writing a set of variations.

I Feel Empty Inside

So lost in song
Photos hang a little wrong
Still can’t tell what’s mine
Still waiting for the right time

It feels so wrong
Lost when the world feels small 
Content when it takes so long
Til faces line the walls

In my defense
It’s led to so many rooms
It makes no sense
I’m navigating by the moon 
Roaming a house I rent 
It separates in two
But I’m not here to stay
I’ll downsize one day 

With light from somewhere high 
Here 10,000 times 
I’ve drawn mandalas in the sky 
Your name burned in my eyes 

In my defense
It’s led to so many rooms
Yet here I am
Navigating by the moon

Lost
And clocks don’t keep the time
I’ve got nowhere in mind
