Have you ever seen those chains hanging down at the harbour? Thick as fists, they are. Covered in lichen and slime, hanging so heavy, so immovable and dead, determinedly pulling downward despite the salty westward gales ripping by. This song was written on a day where I waded down at the harbour, aching with depression and grief. It’s inspired by the chains, because they remind me of what it is just to exist, when ‘exist’ is all you can do. And in the likeness I found in those chains, with links like fists, I found a moment of peace.
Sonically, this track is inspired by Ben Howards music in the album ‘I forget where we were’, based around an electric guitar riff with a solid delay. The lyrics are an absent minded conversation with late friends.

Drew Davies is from the North York’s Moors. After starting his musical career in the rock n roll trenches of London and moonlighting for whoever would have him he now resides in the post-industrial artistic hotbed of Glasgow. 

He has written many songs and played some iconic shows. From London' s Scala and legendary Underworld to Download Festival & the Brudenell Social. He has also been fortunate enough to have his music played by BBC DJ's such as Mickey Bradley (BBC Ulster), Gary Crowley (BBC London), Bruce Dickinson (BBC 6), Jericho Keys (BBC Introducing) and the late great Janice Long (BBC Wales) amongst others.

His latest work is his most expansive, inspired by the world around him and the themes of love, loss and the human experience. Drew has created a sonic soundscape that can feel ominous like a storm rolling over a city or comforting like the warm sun caressing the back of your neck. This approach has garnered him praise from publications such as Earmilk, Clash, Music Crowns and Wonderland.
