Mojo Pin is a Melbourne based psych rock outfit, that was started back in 2011 by school mates Chris and Josh. The band went on to gig regularly for years in some of Melbournes most popular live music venues (The Tote, Cherry Bar, Corner Hotel etc) and have since released 2 EP’s and a handful of Singles. Their most recent single Void is now available on all streaming platforms and its music video comes out the 1st of September.

Since summer 2013 I use SoundCloud to disseminate and exchange small pieces of music which I usually play on bass. Beside my current band in the area of rock and old school punk-rock this is an important activity to keep a proper balance between my day-time profession in academia/research and my private life.

In particular, when I started recording, my idea was to compose music for elevators and phone waiting-loops. The first recordings I did with my BOSS RC-30 looper, which I still use today for practicing quite often. The tracks are mostly created in an ad-hoc approach and the ideas remain as raw as they were during first shot. Due to time, the effort for post-processing is always kept very low ;-)

In addition, I write reviews on basses. A first try, you find on the Web-Site of the German manufacturer Bassart – the review is about my Amazing Standard (see the links below). A further review addresses my 6-string Groover from Ralf Börjes build in 1995. This is the by far coolest bass on the planet. The article was published in the German magazine Bassquarterly (Nov./Dec. Issue in 2017 – see the links below).

Drew Dedman is a Melbourne musician who has played bass in many bands across  many different styles for the last 20+ years.  Currently playing bass in Arcane Saints, XXIII,  classic rock covers band Blue Dog Cruiser and 90s rock covers band From Out of Somewhere.
