On January 12, 2018, Rich Thomsen & SquareSpiral will release their synth-laden, new wave EP, "Making the Fire".   The winter release includes Rich Thomsen's lyrical themes of unexpected change, overcoming adversity, and the impact of social media on our lives.  SquareSpiral added his own electronic energy with dark yet upbeat production that evokes 80s new wave sounds.

This musical pair collaborates across the Atlantic Ocean, thanks to alternative icon Beck's 2012 sheet music / social experiment 'Song Reader'.  In Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, Rich Thomsen took the challenge to record and publish these unrecorded works in his own "Reinvention" album in 2014, but shared early drafts on SoundCloud.  The music producer SquareSpiral started chiming in on Rich's tracks with comments and suggestions.  Soon after they learned they had similar music tastes and used the same DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software.  Future exchanges led to their exciting new EP - "Making the Fire".
