Something for the deep listeners, feelers and movers 🙏🏼Two mixes curated in reflection of past year - An ambient/ downtempo one followed by an ecstatic one with ethnic influences. 

Theme (and my style) is grounding into and being at peace with our innermost emotions, shadows and thoughts before we embrace the melodies of world, nature and cosmos, in both beauty and melancholy. 

You may begin with the ambient mix for more meditative introspection or light grooves, which contains some of my own live instrumentals and fav artists. Or go straight into the ecstatic dance mix for deep hypnotic tribal grooves progressing towards altered state of trance, with tribute to Eastern influences and fav tunes that have moved body and soul at gigs that we co-curated together the past year :)

Ambient & Ecstatic Year Mix 2023

This is a special reflective mix that I have been working on the past month as I integrate the musical wonders of the ambient, downtempo, world and sound healing realms that have touched my soul deeply the past year and beyond - at chillout/ conscious gigs and on a personal level.

Putting on both my producer and DJ hats on for this, has been rewarding and challenging. This mix contains 4 of my own tracks which blend electronic synths, samples and live therapeutic instruments. Along with my own edits and blend of inspirational artists such as Carbon Based Lifeforms, Yaima etc.

The arc for this journey follows a familiar and powerful narrative of grounding into and being at peace with our innermost emotions, shadows and thoughts pleasant and unpleasant, before we slowly embrace the melodies of world, nature and cosmos, in both beauty and melancholy. Ambient Year Mix 2023 - Inner Embrace

Ecstatic Dance year mix reflecting on the tribal ethnic downtempo, progressive and trance tunes that have moved body and soul deeply in 2023 across gigs. Especially focused on Eastern wisdom and influences from regions that have shaped my musical/ spiritual path and yearnings i.e Middle East and India.

Ecstatic Dance Year Mix 2023 - Ethnic Trance

Sek Sheng, also known by his artist name ‘Dr Foo’, is a sound meditation facilitator, musician and DJ who holds space and prescribes music for healing and integration of deeper aspects of the self. He has immersed in and been trained in sound healing, yoga, meditation and music production in an ever evolving journey in the past 10 years.

Dr Foo believes that sound is a universal language that can re-awaken our innate power and connection with all, and serve as a fun yet sacred medium for healing and understanding. His journeys emphasise the importance of owning our darkness before true healing and expansion can occur.  

His sound healing journeys interweave live therapeutic instruments (singing bowls, harp, melodic drums etc) with electronic music (hypnotic synths, binaural beats), nature sounds, ethnic music and mantras across cultures. It is a reflection of his journey starting as an underground club DJ in Melbourne to immersing in yogic journeys in India & Bali, and then realising the power of sound for therapy.  

In recent years he has curated soundscapes for yoga and meditation events, full & new moon sound healing journeys as well as ecstatic/conscious dance events.
