Archanel is a musical group from El Paso, TX. Formed in 2015; the band was created by Michael De La Cruz and Louie Cantrell.
After the demise of their first project (Chromatic Algorithms), the duo wanted to take things a little slower. With the constant roar of practices, performances, studio sessions and good old fashion all night binges, they decided to take a calmer approach with Archanel.
As a result, the music is a lot more thought provoking, a lot more creative and a lot more intimate. From their former riff heavy, drum driven style, they show that there is more to their musical arsenal than their Alternative/Stoner Rock/Grunge-esq and yes, even Metal like influences. They have shown that they can produce music with an Ambient/Progressive/Experimental and even a little bit of Shoegaze like influences in their new sound, but don’t worry, there’s still a little bit of that other stuff in there too. With the hilt of this new direction guiding their hand, the duo has also taken a leisurely approach when writing and recording their songs as well. Even as far as putting Archanel on a brief hiatus to concentrate on other projects, namely The DarkSwap and Fear the Monolith.
The group, however, is back and currently in the studio working on their latest album. After the demise of their junior project: together, the two are reminded of why they started Archanel in the first place. One thing is most reassuring over all; it will be on their terms. We hope you enjoy the music.
